Position Summary
The Associate Director, Corporate Strategy serves as a critical operating hub within PharmaEssentia’s Corporate Strategy function—translating strategic intent into structured execution. This individual will own the end-to-end management of external vendor relationships and AI-driven initiatives, ensure that cross-functional projects advance on time, and support the Head of Strategy through executive-ready deliverables and internal governance processes. The ideal candidate is a structured, proactive generalist with a top consulting firm background who is equally comfortable managing complex stakeholder dynamics, coordinating multi-vendor workstreams, and navigating emerging AI tools and initiatives. Some exposure to the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry is a plus, but not required.Key Responsibilities
Vendor Management & PMO Coordination
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external vendors across strategy and AI-related workstreams—managing communication, timelines, and deliverable quality on behalf of senior leadership.
- Translate vendor outputs into clear, actionable formats for internal teams; conversely, synthesize internal requests and priorities into structured briefs for vendors.
- Own the full vendor management lifecycle, including scoping, contract execution, milestone tracking, and performance evaluation.
- Ensure all vendor engagements comply with relevant legal, compliance, and data privacy requirements; coordinate cross-functional approvals as needed.
- Maintain a consolidated view of all active vendor engagements, surfacing risks, dependencies, and status updates to the Head of Strategy on a regular cadence.
- Serve as the internal anchor for AI-related projects and initiatives, most of which are executed by external vendors.
- Receive, evaluate, and integrate AI deliverables—translating outputs into formats that are accessible and useful for internal stakeholders across commercial, medical, and strategy functions.
- Coordinate cross-functional input and approvals for AI-related projects, ensuring alignment with compliance, legal, and data privacy requirements.
- Proactively identify use cases, surface blockers, and facilitate cross-functional adoption of AI tools and workflows.
- Stay current with the evolving AI landscape—including generative AI and AI applications in life sciences—and proactively surface opportunities to apply new approaches to PharmaEssentia’s operations.
- Support the Head of Strategy on high-priority cross-functional initiatives, owning project infrastructure—timelines, decision logs, stakeholder alignment—to enable senior leaders to focus on strategy and judgment.
- Lead preparation of executive- and Board-level materials, including strategy decks, portfolio review pre-reads, and leadership briefings; ensure clarity, accuracy, and compelling narrative in all deliverables.
- Manage the portfolio review process, including meeting design, agenda setting, and data synthesis across programs.
- Maintain portfolio dashboards, KPI trackers, and decision-support tools that enable senior leaders to monitor performance and make informed choices.
- Coordinate across Corporate Strategy, Commercial, Medical Affairs, R&D, and Finance to ensure workstream alignment and timely delivery.
- Manage ad hoc special projects and operational requests as directed by the Head of Strategy.
Qualifications & Experience
- Advanced degree strongly preferred (MBA, MS, or equivalent); undergraduate degree from a top institution considered with strong experience.
- 5–8 years of total experience; prior experience at a top-tier consulting firm strongly preferred, ideally at the Engagement Manager or Project Leader level.
- Experience in or meaningful exposure to the pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences industry is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder workstreams with minimal oversight—strong ownership mentality and follow-through.
- A fast learner with genuine intellectual curiosity and a willingness to quickly get up to speed on the rapidly evolving AI and technology landscape as it applies to biopharma commercial and medical operations.
- Excellent communication and synthesis skills—able to translate complexity into clear outputs for senior audiences.
- Advanced PowerPoint and Excel proficiency; able to produce polished, executive-quality materials.
- Thrives in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment where priorities shift and initiative is rewarded.
What We Offer
- Direct exposure to the Head of Strategy and senior leadership across a high-growth, commercially active biopharma.
- Unique vantage point across AI initiatives, vendor strategy, executive communications, and cross-functional operations.
- Clear development path toward senior strategy leadership.
