Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Clinical Informatics Nurse Specialist to oversee all aspects of our Electronic Health Record (EHR) and E-Prescribing system. This individual will serve as the key liaison between our organization and the EHR/E-PRESCRIBING vendor, ensuring seamless system functionality, optimal clinical workflow integration, and effective end-user support. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in health informatics and preferably be a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) or have extensive clinical experience.

** This is a remote position with some travel required, as needed for training with newly acquired practices. **

Responsibilities

System Expertise & Oversight

• Serve as the in-house expert on the functionality and optimization of the EHR/E-PRESCRIBING systems.
• Identify inefficiencies and recommend solutions to enhance clinical documentation, workflow, and user experience.
• Investigate clinical notes for accuracy, particularly when AI-assisted documentation is used; determine whether issues stem from EHR functionality or incorrect chart data inputs.

Vendor Liaison

• Act as the primary point of contact between the organization and the EHR/E-PRESCRIBING vendor for issue escalation, enhancement requests, and software updates.
• Test and validate new software releases, updates, and customizations before deployment to ensure functionality and minimal disruption.

• Training & Implementation

  • Design and lead initial and ongoing training sessions for providers, clinical staff, and administrative users on EHR/E-PRESCRIBING features, best practices, and system changes.
  • Lead EHR/E-PRESCRIBING onboarding and integration efforts for newly acquired practices, including workflow customization and training.

  Provider Support

  • Serve as the primary resource for clinical providers experiencing EHR/E-PRESCRIBING-related issues.
  • Triage and resolve provider support requests, either directly or by coordinating with the helpdesk or EHR/E-PRESCRIBING vendor as appropriate.

  Helpdesk Oversight

  • Oversee the helpdesk function for EHR/E-PRESCRIBING-related issues, including ticket tracking, prioritization, and timely resolution.

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of clinical workflows and how they integrate with EHR/E-PRESCRIBING systems.
• Proficient in investigating clinical documentation and troubleshooting AI-generated or auto-populated notes.
• Strong communication and teaching skills with the ability to train a variety of user types.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work cross-functionally with clinical, operations, and IT teams.
• Familiarity with regulatory and compliance standards related to clinical documentation and health IT.
• Experience with PointClickCare and Matrix Care

Familiarity with AI-assisted clinical documentation platforms

Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Nursing Informatics, Clinical Informatics, Information Systems, or a related technical or clinical field with demonstrated experience in health technology or EHR systems required. Registered Nurse (RN) license strongly preferred.

• At least 3 years of experience in a clinical position in the medical field
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience working with EHR/E-PRESCRIBING systems in a clinical or health IT capacity.
• Experience managing vendor relationships and leading software implementation or training projects.
