Hardware Engineer III - Secret Clearance
Job Responsibilities:
- Designs, develops, and tests computer hardware, including computer systems, circuit boards, computer chips, keyboards, routers, and printers. Supervises the manufacturing, production, and installation of the parts.
- Designs and oversees the production of computer hardware equipment.
- Tests and re-tests parts to ensure they work properly.
- Identifies and isolates defects.
- Designs and develops the software systems that control computers.
- Designs and tests circuits and other electronic components.
- Tests work and refine processes.
- Integrates components into the final design. Evaluates the effectiveness of the design and change if necessary.
- Generates specifications for parts.
- Controls the efficiency of processes. Builds, tests and modifies product prototypes.
- Analyzes information and recommend appropriate hardware to users.
- Designs support peripherals, including central processing units (CPUs), support logic, microprocessors, custom integrated circuits, and printers and disk drives. Specifies power supply requirements and configuration.
- Retrieves data for analysis of system capabilities.
- Experience with Hardware engineering software (Altium Designer, Orcad, Cadence Allegro) and Electronics tools (soldering irons, magnifiers)
Skills:
- Experience coordinating team-based design development processes for FPGA based designs is required, including mixed language VHDL/Verilog code development with proficiency in advanced VHDL grammars and techniques, simulation, verification, synthesis, timing closure and hardware-based acceleration.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, in-depth knowledge of Xilinx Virtex MPSoCs, DDR4 physical layer, and GateRocket hardware acceleration platforms.
- Additionally, the candidate must be able to function proficiently in an exclusively UNIX based environment with a deep in-depth familiarity of UNIX based scripting, Xilinx ISE, Xilinx Vivado, Modelsim/Questa, laboratory test equipment, network test equipment, and source/revision control tools.
- Should be able to develop implementation architectures from requirements documents or high-level specifications with limited direction.
- Requires the use and maintenance of legacy IP and UNIX build environments.
- Requires the ability to troubleshoot designs operating within an integrated system.
- Experience with terrestrial network standards, and design and debug of complex circuit boards for high reliability and radiation tolerant systems
- Experience with Signal Integrity tools in support of PCB design and development.
