Plumbing & Fire Protection Project Engineer
Job Summary
- Develop, design and plan initial plumbing and fire protection system concepts and project specifications
- Prepare calculations, reports
- Perform fire suppression system selection, preliminary designs, and performance specifications
- Consult on areas such as preparation of existing facility diligence, sustainability analyses, and feasibility reports
- Producing drawings consistent with client requirements and standards
- Ensure designs comply with company standards and procedures
- Review QA/QC drawings for the PFP team
- Attend client meetings with Project Managers
- Participate in Inter-Departmental Project Management Meetings
- Mentor junior plumbing/fire protection engineers and designers
Qualifications
- Advanced communication, time management, and attention to detail skills
- Ability to quickly build effective working relationships
- Capable of managing high pressure, deadline driven situations and dealing with changes.
- Engineering degree from an accredited college or university.
- Strong technical skills. AutoCAD and/or Revit experience
- 5+ years relevant industry experience
- Knowledge of the various applications of fire suppression systems, Mechanical / Plumbing trades, building codes, and drawings / documents
- Knowledge of equipment from various manufacturers and the ability to make proper selections independently
- Ability to independently perform fire suppression hydraulic calculations to support design and estimate construction costs and evaluate feasibility of construction
