Job Title: Electromechanical Technician
Job Description
This role focuses on assembling complex testing equipment made up of multiple subassemblies over the course of approximately one week. You will perform both electro-mechanical and mechanical assembly, including wiring, crimping, and panel work, while collaborating closely with a small, experienced team. The position requires strong electrical skills, the ability to interpret schematics and wiring diagrams, and confidence using a variety of hand tools to complete high-quality assemblies.
Responsibilities
- Assemble testing equipment structures consisting of multiple electro-mechanical and mechanical subassemblies.
- Perform electro-mechanical assembly of components, ensuring all parts are correctly installed and aligned.
- Carry out mechanical assembly tasks for larger-scale capital equipment, following detailed work instructions.
- Wire panels and subassemblies, including routing, terminating, and securing wires to meet quality and safety standards.
- Perform crimping and stripping of wires using appropriate tools and techniques to ensure reliable connections.
- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints to guide assembly and wiring activities.
- Follow written work instructions accurately to complete assemblies within expected timelines.
- Use hand tools such as grinders, drills, and general hand tools to fabricate, modify, and assemble components as needed.
- Inspect assemblies and wiring for accuracy, completeness, and workmanship, and make necessary adjustments or repairs.
- Collaborate with a team of technicians to coordinate tasks, share information, and ensure timely completion of projects.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle tools and equipment safely.
- Support repair or rework of assemblies when issues are identified during testing or inspection.
Essential Skills
- Proven wiring and crimping experience, including wire preparation, termination, and panel wiring.
- Strong electrical skills for assembly work involving electro-mechanical components and systems.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints.
- Experience with subassembly work, including building and integrating multiple components into larger systems.
- Experience in larger-scale assembly, particularly capital equipment or similar complex machinery.
- Ability to read and follow detailed work instructions accurately.
- Comfort and proficiency using hand tools such as grinders, drills, and general hand tools for assembly and light machining tasks.
- Electro-mechanical assembly experience, including integration of electrical and mechanical components.
- Ability to perform basic repair and rework on assemblies when required.
Why Work Here?
You will join a tight-knit team where your hands-on skills directly contribute to building complex, high-value equipment. The work offers variety, as you assemble different subassemblies and systems rather than performing repetitive tasks. You will have the opportunity to deepen your electro-mechanical expertise, work closely with experienced colleagues, and see projects through from start to finish in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Work Environment
The role follows a daytime schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., providing a consistent work routine. You will work as part of a team of about five people in a shop or production environment focused on assembling testing equipment and capital machinery. The work involves regular use of hand tools such as grinders, drills, and other assembly tools, and may include light machining-related tasks. The dress code includes steel-toed shoes for safety and plain jeans, reflecting a practical, hands-on industrial setting.
