The Kitchen Steward is a full time or seasonal non-exempt position responsible for rotation and stocking of kitchen good and ingredients, dishwashing and overall cleanliness in the Farm kitchen in conformance with established Farm policies, strategies, and procedures.
Primary Responsibilities:
Performs any functions necessary, within scope of authority and expertise, to provide the highest level of customer service and responsiveness to the needs of individuals, families, businesses, and organizations served by the Farm.
1) Cleans, per approved sanitation and safety guidelines, all dishes, glasses, utensils, pots and pans and related food preparation/serving items and equipment; operates dish washer per approved guidelines; checks all items for cleanliness; stores cleaned, dried items and equipment in proper places.
2) Works with Receiver to check in deliveries, unpacks and stores products and ingredients in dry storage, cooler or freezer, maintains proper rotation of product according to expiration dates, maintains cleanliness and organization of storage areas. Communicates with Head Chef and Head Baker regarding par levels, needs and issues related to product or equipment.
3) Maintains all cleaning/washing equipment at proper temperature and in proper operating order; loads equipment correctly; checks temperature per approved schedule and adjusts as needed; troubleshoots dishwasher machine malfunctions.
4) Cleans floor and work area of any spillage of water, detergent and/or food stuffs per safety and sanitation guidelines.
5) Package and label products prior to delivery to the retail area. May be responsible for checking inventory levels in retail to ensure displays are fully stocked.
6) May assist with prep work as needed.
Other Responsibilities:
9) Completes any other kitchen duties as necessitated by seasonal scheduling.
The above is a description of the ordinary duties of the position. It should be expected that from time to time, other duties both related and unrelated to the above may be assigned, and therefore, required.
Position Requirements:
6 month to 1 year of related experience preferred. Position may require weekend and holiday hours. Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis.
