Administrative Support Volunteer Position Overview YouthConnect is seeking a short-term volunteer to provide administrative support during a 4-6 week internship experience. This volunteer opportunity offers hands-on experience in nonprofit operations while supporting YouthConnect's mission to provide violence prevention, intervention, advocacy, and mental health services to at-risk youth and their families in Boston. Supervision This volunteer will work under the direct supervision of the Administrative and Data Manager and will receive training, guidance, and regular check-ins throughout the internship period. Key Responsibilities Office Administration- Assist with daily office tasks including mail distribution, filing, and document organization
- Support maintenance of office supplies inventory and help coordinate supply orders
- Greet visitors and assist with phone calls as needed
- Help organize and maintain physical files in accordance with confidentiality requirements
- Assist with coordination of food distribution logistics for clients
- Support holiday food and gift drive organization by helping coordinate with local businesses and community partners
- Help maintain and organize program materials and supplies
- Provide administrative support for biweekly team meetings
- Assist with basic data entry and file management tasks
- Support website and social media content preparation (under staff supervision)
- Help prepare materials for meetings and presentations
- Assist with correspondence and internal communications
- Provide backup support for reception duties
- Assist with special projects and events as needed
- Help maintain organized workspace and filing systems
- Support staff with administrative tasks during busy periods
- Nonprofit administration and operations
- Social services program coordination
- Community outreach and partnership development
- Professional office environment and communication skills
- Understanding of youth services and community-based programs
- Open to high school students, college students, recent graduates, and individuals with relevant interest/experience.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Reliable and punctual with good communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
- Proficiency with basic computer skills (email, word processing)
- Commitment to complete the full 4-6 week internship period
- This is a 4–6 week internship program requiring a commitment of two full days per week (9:00am–5:00pm). Specific scheduling can be arranged based on availability.
