Overview

We are seeking a highly creative and detail-oriented Women’s Accessories Designer with deep expertise in handbags and a strong background in leather goods to join our design team. This role will focus on developing seasonal collections of handbags, footwear, and belts that work together to tell complete brand stories. Soft accessories—including scarves, ponchos, cold weather, and hosiery—will be designed as complementary layers to the core leather goods collections.

Responsibilities

Collection & Design Development

  • Responsible for creative design of handbags as the anchor of seasonal accessories collections, ensuring footwear and belts support and complete the storytelling.
  • Conceptualize and design innovative, brand-right leather goods aligned with seasonal apparel direction and trend influences.
  • Strong ability to conceptualize and design custom hardware that is used across handbags, belts and footwear
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (merchandising, product development, sourcing) to ensure designs meet brand, margin, and quality expectations.

Trend & Market Research

  • Monitor runway, retail, cultural, and street-style trends with a focus on handbags and leather goods.
  • Build seasonal mood boards, color and material stories that define the accessories vision, with handbags as the lead category.

Technical & Product Expertise

  • Select and develop leathers, materials, trims, hardware, and finishes specific to handbags, footwear, and belts.
  • Apply expert knowledge of handbag construction, function, and proportion while ensuring designs are executable for production.
  • Collaborate with vendors to review prototypes, fittings, and materials, resolving design and production challenges with an eye for craftsmanship.

Process & Organization

  • Manage design calendars, line plans, and collection presentations with strong attention to deadlines and cross-category cohesion.
  • Maintain detailed design files, specs, and documentation for all styles

Qualifications

  • Manage design calendars, line plans, and collection presentations with strong attention to deadlines and cross-category cohesion.
  • Maintain detailed design files, specs, and documentation for all styles
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Accessories Design, or related field.
  • Proven expertise in handbag design.
  • Strong sketching ability and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
  • Deep knowledge of leathers, custom hardware design, construction methods, and finishing techniques specific to handbags and leather goods.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects in fast-paced environments.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; confident working with cross-functional partners and external vendors.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Accessories Design, or related field.
  • 6+ years’ experience
