Advanced System Admin Specialist

Acara Solution is looking for an Advanced System Admin Specialist for our client located in Dedham, MA .

• As an Advanced Systems Administration Specialist, you'll serve as a front-line interface to users with technical issues by conducting systems analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies.
• Your duties may include installing new software, troubleshooting, granting permissions to applications and training users.
• You'll also be responsible for the day-to-day support of server services by performing server administration for physical and virtual server operating systems and configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting physical and virtual hardware and network-related interfaces on servers.
• You'll perform OS and vendor software patching on servers and monitor physical and virtual servers' performance using monitoring tools.
• A Systems Admin Specialist is responsible for maintaining and supporting the company's technology infrastructure.
• This includes installing and updating software, managing servers and networks, and troubleshooting any technical issues.
• They are also involved in security efforts, ensuring data protection and compliance with company policies.
• Responsible for managing the functionality, efficiency, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of both physical and virtual hardware, including those in lab environments and computers running on one or more operating systems, using monitoring tools.
• Work with customers to identify, isolate, and resolve problems with the server that are affecting other services.
• Executes, maintains, and promotes Security Compliance and Process Improvement processes and policies.
• Conducts systems analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies.
• Carries out specific assignments to repair defects, perform upgrades and preventative maintenance in the primary domain.
• Performs Operating System and vendor software patching on servers.
• Run scripts and tools to automate repetitive processes and provide inputs for improvements.
• Configures, maintains and troubleshoots network-related interfaces on servers.
• Performs troubleshooting and analysis of alerts on Servers.
• Key contributor in identifying, implementing, reviewing, approving, and analysing new performance metrics to optimise the environment for efficiencies and identify additional improvement opportunities.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development.

Pay Rate: $51.93/hour

Job Requirements

Required Skills / Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree
• Minimum 5 years of experience with system monitoring and management tools like Nagios and SolarWinds.

Preferred Skills / Qualifications:

• Master's Degree with 3 years of experience.
• Ability to express and discuss technical topics effectively within a team environment.
• Fully proficient understanding of various operating systems like Windows, Linux, and UNIX.
• Intermediate knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and other networking concepts.
• Understanding of cybersecurity principles, firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
• Familiarity with virtualisation technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or similar.
• Fully proficient in backup solutions and disaster recovery strategies.
• Ability to configure and manage servers and network devices.
• Fully proficient in problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
• Proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation tasks.
• Fully proficient in documentation skills to maintain system documentation, procedures, and policies.
• Ability to analyse complex systems and troubleshoot effectively.
• Fully proficient verbal and written communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Fully proficient in attention to detail for system management and security practices.
• Ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and support cross-functional projects.
• Solid understanding of server-based operating systems.
• Enhanced troubleshooting skills within the server OS as well as both networking and storage technologies.
• Working knowledge of creating and running scripts to automate repetitive processes.
• Creative thinking with the ability to multitask.
