The Opportunity

Lesley University is seeking a Core Faculty member in Counseling and Psychology to teach and advise students in the Counseling and Psychology Masters and Doctoral programs. This position will report to the Associate Provost for Mental Health and Wellbeing, and will work closely with the Chair of the Graduate Department of Counseling and Psychology. The core faculty member will demonstrate a commitment to teaching, reflective practice, and scholarship. The core faculty member will demonstrate a commitment to a counseling practice that emphasizes social justice and trauma-informed approaches to counseling and healing. Candidates with expertise in the areas of trauma-informed practices, field training, and/or PreK-12 school counseling will get preferred consideration.

The Core Faculty member will be responsible for teaching a full-time course load, participating in departmental and university assemblies, and engaging in scholarship activities relevant to their area of expertise. Additionally, they will work in partnership with student success personnel on student advising and orientation, develop and implement effective teaching practices to incorporate appropriate methodology, and work in partnership with the Associate Provost and Department Chair to engage in formal faculty evaluations with the goals of enhancing student learning, and supporting professional advancement.

In addition to filling general program faculty needs, the University is seeking a faculty member with interest in coordinating the Counseling and Psychology School and Community specialization. In this capacity, the core faculty member will work as part of a team, preparing students for licensure as Licensed Mental Health Counselors and/or School Counselors or School Adjustment Counselors in the state of Massachusetts, and training practitioners and leaders in the field of counseling and psychology.

Qualities and Capabilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a Doctoral degree, or be near completion, in Counseling Psychology, Counselor Education, or related field by the time of hire

  • Be licensed or license eligible in Massachusetts as an LMHC, LICSW, LMFT, LPC, LPCC, or related professional (Preferred)

  • Be licensed/license eligible for Massachusetts DESE School Counseling or School Adjustment Counseling licensure (Required for candidates applying to coordinate the School and Community Program)

  • Possess 2+ years of graduate level teaching experience

  • Have Demonstrated a commitment to social justice perspectives in teaching, service and practice

  • Have prior experience advising graduate students strongly preferred
