Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in assisting with patient care across various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, skilled nursing facilities, and home health environments. As a COTA, you will work closely with licensed occupational therapists to implement treatment plans designed to improve patients' functional abilities, promote independence, and enhance quality of life. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on diverse patient populations through compassionate and professional care.
Responsibilities
- Assist licensed occupational therapists in developing and implementing individualized care plans tailored to each patient's needs.
- Support patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as grooming, dressing, and mobility exercises, promoting independence and safety.
- Provide direct patient care
- Monitor patient progress and document responses to interventions accurately in accordance with facility protocols.
- Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises and strategies to maintain progress outside of clinical sessions.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care and facilitate smooth communication regarding treatment goals.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized treatment environment while adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Contribute to the development of care plans by providing insights based on patient interactions and observations.
Requirements
- Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) from an accredited program.
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and occupational health principles relevant to patient care.
- Familiarity with medical imaging reports and understanding their relevance to occupational therapy interventions is a plus.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to adapt treatment approaches based on individual patient needs within outpatient or inpatient contexts.
- Demonstrated understanding of care plans development and implementation for diverse populations including those in skilled nursing or outpatient clinics.
