Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is seeking a highly motivated and driven individual to join our organization as an Administrative Fellow. This one-year fellowship program provides a unique opportunity to work closely with senior leaders, gain hands-on experience in healthcare administration, and contribute to large-scale hospital-wide projects. The Administrative Fellow will actively participate in strategic initiatives and engage in shadowing opportunities with executives to develop a well-rounded understanding of healthcare leadership. This role if full-time and is hybrid with approximately 2-3 days in the office. Some benefits of being our administrative fellow include exposure to executive-level decision-making and strategic planning and participation in leadership development activities, such as workshops and seminars. The administrative fellow also has access to the senior leaders who provide mentorship, and support and guidance throughout the fellowship. The fellow is involved in multiple large-scale institute-wide projects and can gain practical experience in project management and implementation firsthand. Dana-Farber and its affiliate institutes have a vast network of healthcare professionals and plenty of opportunity for professional growth and development for a fellow.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborative Leadership: Work closely with senior leaders to support and drive institute-wide projects and initiatives aligned with Dana-Farber's mission and strategic goals.

  • Process Improvement: Engage in cross-functional teams to develop and implement process improvements that enhance operational efficiency and patient care.

  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research, perform data analysis, and prepare comprehensive reports to inform decision-making and project planning.

  • Executive Shadowing: Participate in meetings with executive leaders and gain insights into high-level leadership strategies and decision-making processes.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with staff, physicians, and other stakeholders to understand their needs, address concerns, and provide support as required .

  • Agenda Management: Organize and execute large, institute-wide agendas and meetings , including a monthly virtual session for the Institute’s managers .

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in a related field; a master's degree in healthcare administration , business administration, or a related field is required .

  • Work Experience: A minimum of two years of professional work experience is required . Fellowships and internships do not count toward this requirement .

  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to evaluate complex situations and propose effective solutions.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Team Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

  • Project Management: Proven project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • High L evel of A utonomy : Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects from inception to completion with minimal oversight.

  • Healthcare Experience: Previous experience in an office or healthcare setting or knowledge of healthcare operations is preferred.

Pay Transparency Statement

The hiring range is based on market pay structures, with individual salaries determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and based on the candidate’s relevant experience, skills and qualifications.

For union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
