Senior Sustaining Hardware Engineer
JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Sustaining Hardware Engineer is responsible for the redesign of products for the electric power generation, transmission, and distribution test equipment industry. This person will be responsible for all part selections, schematic capture, and supervising the board layouts requiring re-spins due to part obsolescence and new features. The Senior Sustaining Hardware Engineer must be able to participate in a team environment, while managing their own assigned responsibilities. This role will be based in our Marlborough, MA office reporting to the Director, Hardware Engineering.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for some product development.
- Help bring new technologies into existing product designs.
- Develop design specifications for hardware enhancements.
- Develop schematics.
- Run simulations, where appropriate, to evaluate new designs.
- Supervise new board layouts.
- Effectively develop timelines for assigned work.
- Write test plans for integrating new parts into existing designs.
- Debug and bring-up of new boards.
- Work with software engineers to refine interfaces between different assemblies.
- System integration and development in a team environment.
- Troubleshoot test equipment problems.
- Specification and development of board test fixtures.
- Participate in project team meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering required.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 5-7 years' experience in circuit design and circuit layout.
- Familiarity with Microprocessor designs, analog measurement, analog filtering, digital filtering, A/D implementations, control, and power amplifiers.
- Familiarity with various simulation tools (SPICE, PSIM, ModelSim).
- An understanding of signal integrity concepts.
- Working knowledge with Mentor Graphics DXDesigner schematic capture tool and Cadence Allegro layout tool
- Working knowledge with Altium schematic capture, library, and layout tools
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of design for EMC compliance.
- Ability to provide constructive feedback and insights on others' designs.
- Ability to express ideas clearly in both written and oral communications.
- Ability to independently plan and organize one's own activities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is often required to stand, sit, use computers, read, write, type, use copy machines, file paperwork, use telephones, and utilize written and oral communication to interact with clients, co-workers and customers. Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job related skills, as well as relevant education or training experience.
Salary Pay Range Minimum $109,743.53 - Midpoint $137,179.42
