Site manager - house and grounds

Historic Newton (historicnewton.org) seeks a reliable, energetic & collaborative professional to oversee maintenance and operations, and manage site rentals, at the Durant-Kenrick House & Grounds.

The Manager ensures that all spaces in the building and on the grounds are maintained in good condition and are secure. The Manager oversees and plans the maintenance schedule, handles vendor contracts, and conducts routine maintenance tasks and simple repairs. The Manager also markets and coordinates event rentals at the site, including promotion, rental contracts, payment processing, and space setup and breakdown. As part of a team, the Site Manager assists with promoting and coordinating Historic Newton’s own public programs and events at the site. The Manager will handle and reconcile admissions and gift shop income weekly, and, at times, will staff the front desk, interacting with museum visitors.

Part-time position, $26-$27 per hour, with evenings and weekends often required.

Qualifications:
Requirements include a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in public settings, with experience in facilities management as well as venue rentals and event coordination and planning. The position requires the temperament and drive to market rentals and ensure customer satisfaction. The position also requires the ability to work both independently and collaboratively; strong interpersonal, project management, and communication skills. Experience in historic site management, nonprofit management, rental and retail sales, event venue management, or a related field is required. Interest in history, museum operations, gardening, or historic architecture and landscapes is a plus.
