The Opportunity

The Systems Engineering Manager at Nutanix is a technical field position that leads a team of Pre-Sales Solutions Architects and Specialists. In this role, you will have leadership responsibility for these Pre-Sales Solution Architects and Specialists and will act as a working manager. It is expected that you can perform many of the functions that a Nutanix Solutions Architect does, including executing Demos, participating in EBXs and speaking at public events. You will report to the Director of Systems Engineering Specialists in the Americas.
About the Team
Our Systems Engineering & Solution Sales organization is made up of 800+ customer-focused technical sales professionals who are responsible for identifying and matching technology opportunities with the customer's business issues and objectives, as well as channel partner training and enablement. This team also acts in a consultative fashion and is looked to as an expert in their field by the Nutanix sales, customer success, business partners, and customers.
Your Role:

Support the core field sales team selling Portfolio solutions.

Recruit and hire new Solutions Architects and Specialists into the team, and provide mentorship and training to them once onboard.

Provide an escalation point for pre-sales and post-sales technical issues that arise.

Build and maintain relationships with key customers.

Participate in CxO level conversations about Modern Apps and Cloud Native Solutions

Act as a floating Solutions Architect and fill in for existing team members if there is a resource conflict or need for vacation coverage.

Foster channel partner relationships with their technical teams.

Work closely with Product, Marketing, and Engineering teams to stay informed on product updates, market trends, and customer feedback, enabling you to effectively promote the NKP product.

Establish and maintain playbooks for Solution Architects and Specialists to conduct successful Proof of Concepts (PoCs) and demos.

Management responsibility for Solutions Architects and Specialists including expenses, quarterly check-ins, escalation conversations, etc.

Ability to travel about 30% of the time within Americas.
What You Will Bring:
-
5+ years of experience as a Sr./Pre-Sales Systems Engineer
-
3+ years of pre-sales management experience (SEM/SED)

Deep knowledge of cloud native apps, Kubernetes, VM virtualization as well as design capabilities.

Familiarity with CNCF technologies and the ability to deploy Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP).

Understanding and ability to demonstrate CI/CD pipelines.

Strong communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills.

Humble leader with a bias for action.

Operate with a 'whatever it takes' attitude and motivation to do whatever is necessary to assist in closing a deal.

Knowledge and experience with competing cloud native solutions (RedHat Openshift, Suse Rancher etc.)

Knowledge and experience with AWS, Azure, GCP as related to cloud native solutions.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $253,600 and $380,400/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
Work Arrangement: This position is primarily remote. There is no specific in-office requirement, however, there may be circumstances where you may be required to come into a local office for a specific purpose, and/or to travel to other locations based on business needs.
