Job Description

As a Safety Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring job site safety, conducting regular inspections to identify hazards, and implementing corrective actions. You will assist in developing and delivering safety training, maintaining compliance with industry regulations, and fostering a positive safety culture.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular safety inspections at active job sites to identify hazards, unsafe behaviors, and compliance gaps.
• Document findings, issue corrective actions, and ensure closure of identified items.
• Assist site supervisors and foremen with implementing project-specific safety plans (PSSPs).
• Deliver or coordinate safety trainings such as tool-box talks, equipment operation basics, and OSHA-required programs.
• Ensure employees maintain required certifications (e.g., OSHA 10/30, aerial lift, confined space, first aid/CPR).
• Support onboarding safety orientation for new hires and site-specific orientation for project workers.
• Assist in responding to job site incidents, near misses, injuries, or property damage events.
• Conduct or support investigations, collect statements, and prepare documentation for internal review.
• Track trends and contribute to the development of corrective action plans.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of OSHA standards, state regulations, and industry best practices relevant to mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
• Participate in audits and compliance reviews.
• Support the development of Site-Specific Safety Plans, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and Pre-Task Plans (PTPs).
• Maintain safety records, inspection logs, and training documentation.
• Assist project teams with permitting, hot work procedures, lockout/tagout programs, and equipment safety measures.
• Promote a positive safety culture through coaching, engagement, and visibility in the field.
• Communicate safety expectations clearly to internal teams and subcontractors.
• Recognize and reinforce safe behaviors and practices.

Essential Skills

• OSHA 30 certification
• Bachelor's Degree
• Experience in tool-box talks, safety walks/talks, job hazard assessments, and onboarding staff to project sites

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Any additional safety certifications
• 5+ years of experience in safety roles
• Experience in construction safety and mechanical systems

Work Environment

The Safety Coordinator will be based in the Rocky Hill office but has the flexibility to work from any office location. This is a field-based role requiring travel to project sites throughout CT, MA, and RI. The position offers a company vehicle and a gas card, and may occasionally require overnight stays, which will be covered by the employer. Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Springfield, MA.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
