POSITION TITLE: Full-Time Faculty - Biotechnology and Forensic DNA/ Biology (Open Rank - Instructor, Asst., or Assoc. Professor)

REPORTS TO: Dean of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Education Programs
POSITION STATUS: This is a full-time, MCCC unit position with Benefits.
LOCATION: Required in-person instruction at our Fall River, Attleboro, New Bedford, and/or Taunton; Online
STARTING DATE: Academic Year 2026-2027
SALARY: $57,289 - $74,369 - actual salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience and consistent with the MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Biology/Biotechnology - Full-time faculty position will teach a full-time (15 credit hours per semester) schedule of Biology and Biotechnology courses, which may include, but are not limited to Fundamentals of Biological Science I and II, Introduction to Biotechniques, Cell Biology, Microbiology and/or Biotechnology (see: and This position also develops curriculum/course material for the A.S. in Life Sciences: Biotechnology and Forensic DNA Program and Life Sciences: Biology and offers student support through varied interactions. Full-Time faculty will engage in a critical role in the teaching and learning process, contributing to student learning outcomes and success.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and teach a full-time (15 credit hours per semester) schedule of Biotechnology and Biology courses.
- Facilitate hands-on laboratory experiences in biology, molecular biology, cell biology, cell culture, protein purification and analysis and/or bioprocessing.
- Develop and revise biotechnology curriculum aligned with employer demand, transfer institutions, and industry standards.
- Support the development of certificates, micro-credentials, and experiential learning opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards (OSHA, GLP, GMP).
- Assess student learning and assign grades through equitable and inclusive pedagogies and assessment strategies.
- Work with regional employers, workforce boards, and transfer institutions to ensure program relevance.
- Assist with grant writing, administration, and reporting to support innovation and student opportunities.
- Complete required trainings such as, but not limited to, Title IX, FERPA, and Information Security.
- Teach in face-to-face as well as hybrid, and online modalities.
- Adhere to workload as specified in the Collective Bargaining Agreement, including duties such as, but not limited to, developing curricula to address course and student learning outcomes and General Education competencies as appropriate, completing book orders, creating syllabi, verifying student enrollment, and submitting final grades by the contractual deadline.
- Foster student success across the college's diverse student body, and address equity gaps, through innovative teaching and learning approaches as well as curriculum development.
- Incorporate High-Impact Practices (HIPs) into curricular and pedagogical approaches, with emphasis on HIPs that provide students with real-world experiences such as Service-Learning and internship opportunities.
- Serve as academic advisor to assigned students.
- Post and maintain a minimum of four (4) office hours per week.
- Serve on college committees as elected or appointed.
- Attend program, department, school, all-college and committee/council meetings.
- Recommend suitable instructional material, textbooks, and library acquisitions.
- Participate in assessment of course and program learning outcomes.
- Use technology effectively to communicate with students and colleagues, to teach online as needed, and to enhance classroom learning as appropriate.
- Engage in professional development activities through participation in conferences, workshops, seminars, and professional associations to maintain excellence in the discipline and in the classroom.
- Demonstrate a sense of professionalism and consistently reflect Bristol's core values while interacting with members of the Bristol community.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
NOTE: Unless otherwise noted, all required qualifications must be met by date of hire.
Must include the following:
- Minimum of a Master's degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or a related field.
- Minimum of two years of teaching experience in college-level, credit-bearing courses in biology, molecular biology, cell culture, and/or bioprocessing, and related subjects.
- Proven technological proficiency, which includes Microsoft Office 365 applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in industry (biopharmaceutical, biomedical, environmental, or agricultural biotechnology).
- Familiarity with GMP, GLP, regulatory compliance, and quality systems.
- Record of curriculum development and/or grant-funded projects.
- Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience at the Community College level, first-generation students, or workforce-aligned programs.
- Experience using High Impact Practices.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Canvas or another Learning Management System.
- Demonstrated experience developing and teaching curricula in asynchronous online and hybrid formats that incorporate universal design principles.
- Demonstrated versatility in teaching a range of courses offered in the Biological Sciences/Biotechnology.
- Evidence of scholarly work in Biology or related fields using Biotechnology.
- Demonstrated commitment to closing equity gaps.
- Ability to communicate in a language in addition to English.
