POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Think Tank is a woman-owned small business with more than 27 years of proven success delivering exceptional IT and marine fisheries services to the federal government. We are currently seeking an ideal candidate for the position of AI/ML Specialist to support an upcoming proposal with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Résumé of successful candidate(s) will be included with our proposal.
The AI/ML Specialist develops and applies artificial intelligence and machine learning methods to analyze visual, acoustic, and telemetry data in support of protected species monitoring and ecological modeling. The role supports innovation in automation and predictive modeling.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and implement AI/ML models for tasks such as species detection, classification, and habitat prediction.
- Apply computer vision and deep learning techniques to images, video, and acoustic recordings.
- Work with large environmental and survey datasets to inform real-time decision tools and simulations.
- Collaborate with scientific staff to develop and validate AI workflows for ecological applications.
- Develop scientific algorithms to identify false negative and false positive biases using AI/ML tools
REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree in fisheries, quantitative ecology, or similar
- Years of experience in sampling methods, statistical analyses, distribution models, remote sensing data, fishery data, etc.
- Experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn for supervised and unsupervised learning.
- Proficiency in Python and R; familiarity with ecological or biological datasets
- Strong background in algorithm development, model validation, and interpretability.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Level 1: Bachelors Degree with 1 year of experience
Level 2: Bachelors Degree with 3 years of experience
Level 3: Masters Degree with 5 years of experience
Level 4: PhD with 10 years of experience
