POSITION OVERVIEW

Jackson Mann Community Center’s Adult Education program is looking for part-time ESOL Level 1 Instructor for the 2025-2026 school year. Classes are in-person on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, from 6 to 9 pm. Teachers receive 6 hours of planning per week. Staff meetings are biweekly and in person (usually from 5 to 6 pm). Teachers are paid for all meetings, planning and 12 professional development hours per year.

Teaching Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver lessons utilizing a broad range of appropriate differentiated techniques and strategies that develop students’ abilities to read, write, speak, and listen.
• Follow the program’s scope and sequence and supplement textbooks accordingly. Pearson’s FUTURE series is the main textbook, other materials are available for use.
• Utilize Burlington English in the classroom and encourage students to complete lessons at home.
• Integrate technology into instruction is a requirement.
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback. Refer them to the Education and Career Advisor or Learning Specialist when needed.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Maintain student attendance records (Google Spreadsheet).
• Communicate classroom/student issues to the Program Director promptly.
• Attend team meetings twice a month (in person).
• Participate in a minimum of 12 hours of professional development training.
• Participate in program development projects.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• B.A./B.S. required, M.A./M.S. in instructional ESOL, education or related field preferred.
• At least two years’ experience of ESOL instructions and curriculum development to diverse adults at various levels preferred.
• Knowledge of methods and materials used in ESOL instructions.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Must pass CORI/SORI background check.
• Experience integrating technology in the classroom.
