The Key Program Inc., a leader in the Human Services industry, is seeking a Director of Western Operations to oversee services and operations in Springfield and Greenfield Massachusetts.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s degree in a related human service or business field, or a graduate certificate is required. (Additional employment experience beyond the minimum requirement may be considered in lieu of education).
- A minimum of eight (8) years of higher-level supervisory, management, and administrative experience is required.
- A minimum of two (2) years of direct care or clinical experience, preferably with children and emerging adults, is required.
- A Social Work or Mental Health Counseling license is preferred.
- Full-Time, 40 hours M - F, occasional weekend and evening hours, including administrative on call.
- Extensive driving; a legally registered, inspected, and insured car is required.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Director of Western Operations is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and strategic direction of the Western Region’s service delivery area comprised of 6 residential programs in Springfield and Greenfield, community-based family outreach, therapeutic mentoring, peer mentoring, Lead Agency contracts, and outpatient clinical services. As a member of Key’s Management Team, the Director collaborates with executive and regional leaders to advance the organization's mission, drive operational excellence, support a positive and inclusive workplace culture, and ensure the delivery of high-quality services that meet the needs of children, families, and communities. The Director of Western Operations leads, supports, and supervises a regional management team comprised of operational, clinical and administrative leaders. This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer and collaborates with the President & CEO and Executive Management Team.
To ensure a smooth leadership transition, the current Director will provide training, mentorship, and institutional knowledge to their successor until their planned retirement in 2027.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight of regional operations, ensuring alignment with Key’s mission, values, strategic priorities, and organizational goals.
- Lead and support regional management teams in the delivery of high-quality, trauma-informed services, operational excellence, compliance, accreditation, risk management, and continuous quality improvement.
- Partner with executive leadership and administrative departments, including Clinical Services, Human Resources, Finance, Quality Assurance, and Risk Management, to implement agency-wide initiatives, policies, and best practices.
- Oversee regional workforce development, including recruitment, onboarding, supervision, performance management, staff engagement, retention, and the promotion of a positive, inclusive, and wellness-informed workplace culture.
- Manage regional financial and operational performance, including budgeting, contract management, utilization, facilities oversight, fiscal accountability, and regulatory compliance.
- Serve as a key representative of the organization with funders, community partners, licensing and regulatory agencies, the Board of Directors, and other external stakeholders while advancing strategic growth and service development opportunities.
SALARY/BENEFITS: The starting annual salary is $140,000. A higher starting salary may be considered based on credentials, experience, and demonstrated expertise. The Key Program is a private, non-profit human services agency whose mission is to support children, families, and emerging adults through trauma-informed, culturally grounded services that strengthen resilience, foster belonging, deepen community connections, and build a foundation for lasting well-being. Key works in conjunction with the MA DCF, RI DCYF and NH DCYF and is an agency provider of community-based services, residential treatment programming, and outpatient mental/behavioral health services.
