POSITION TITLE: Senior Special Programs Coordinator - Evening/Weekend (part-time)
DEPARTMENT: New Bedford Campus
REPORTS TO: Dean of New Bedford Campus
LOCATION: New Bedford, MA
POSITION STATUS: This is apart time, non-benefitted position not to exceed 18.5 hours per week, with a nights and weekends schedule.
SALARY: $35.31/hr
STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Senior Special Programs Coordinator oversees and fosters the continued development of the evening and weekend offerings available at the New Bedford Campus. The Coordinator ensures management and administrative oversight of all evening and weekend offerings and services related to campus operations, as well as supports partnerships with regional organizations to foster a college-going culture. The Coordinator will work with various departments and faculty to ensure all evening and weekend students are served. This will include, but is not limited to, assisting students with completing financial aid documentation, making phone calls to encourage students to complete their Admissions applications, as well as serving as a proctor for students who receive services from the office of Access & Disabilities Services, in addition to other duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct the advancement of college efforts during the evening and weekends at the New Bedford Campus in conjunction with other administrators.
- Collaborate with the Campus Dean and other college personnel to determine New Bedford evening and weekend program offerings and class schedules, as well as coordinate student support services.
- Foster a student-centered educational environment responsive to diverse learner needs during the evening and weekends at the New Bedford Campus.
- Implement the evening and weekend components of an annual strategic recruitment, outreach, and retention plan that reflects high impact and evidence-based practices for the campus in collaboration with other college areas.
- Foster relationships with community-based organizations, businesses, and community leaders to support evening and weekend programs.
- Analyze relevant data to track needs and outcomes associated with evening and weekend offerings at the New Bedford Campus.
- Maintain responsiveness to a wide array of campus-related issues involving students, faculty, classroom, building and technology issues during the evening and on weekends.
- Collaborate with Marketing & Communications to ensure branding, as well as market evening and weekend programs and events to the New Bedford area.
- Foster relationships with the Office of Student Engagement and Belonging and other areas to ensure that the evening and weekend activities of that office provide enriching experiences for students.
- Provide information and assistance to students needing help with Admissions, Advising, and Financial Aid on an as needed basis.
- Focus on the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda by applying related best practices throughout all job functions and work collaboratively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body
- Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Job Requirements:
EQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
NOTE: Unless otherwise noted, all required qualifications must be met by date of hire.
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Business Administration, Marketing, Education Administration, or other field related to area of assignment.*
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience and/or training involving area of assignment, which may include business management, program/project management, grant administration, budget development, community relations, curriculum development, education, counseling, substance abuse, non-traditional student services, or public assistance programs.*
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience shall be considered.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the goals and values of a community college.
- Reliable transportation in order to travel to and from meetings, trainings, or campus and community locations as required.
- Ability to work nights and Saturdays.
- The ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of one (1) year of higher education experience in the areas of instruction, program development, and/or student and academic support services.
- Demonstrated experience making presentations before diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering and supporting educational opportunity for diverse ethnic, social, and economic populations and in an urban campus environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Banner and Argos.
- Demonstrated community college administration experience.
- Demonstrated experience working in a multi-campus environment.
- Ability to speak a language in addition to English.
