Position Overview
Mystic Valley Regional Charter School is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and dedicated Music Teacher to lead its Kindergarten through Grade 8 music program. The successful candidate will inspire students to develop an appreciation for music while building foundational skills in music literacy, performance, and musical understanding.
The ideal candidate is a passionate educator who fosters student engagement through dynamic instruction, maintains high expectations, and contributes positively to the school community.
Essential Responsibilities
- Implement the K–8 music curriculum in alignment with school standards and educational objectives.
- Deliver engaging, high-quality instruction that promotes musical growth and appreciation.
- Develop and execute lesson plans with clear learning objectives and measurable outcomes.
- Assess student progress regularly and communicate performance through progress reports, report cards, and other required documentation.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs and abilities of students.
- Foster a positive, structured classroom environment that supports learning and student success.
- Collaborate regularly with colleagues and school leadership to support curriculum development and student achievement.
- Maintain effective communication with students, families, and staff.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development activities, and school-wide initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Director.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of music theory, music literacy, and instructional best practices.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to assess student performance and use data to inform instruction.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to plan and deliver effective lessons aligned with school-wide goals and student needs.
- Successful completion of all applicable MTEL examinations within one year of employment.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred
- Massachusetts teaching licensure in Music.
- Prior experience teaching elementary and/or middle school music.
- Experience directing student performances, ensembles, or school music programs.
Additional Information
This is a full-time position reporting to the Assistant Director. Employment is based on an annual appointment and includes a yearly performance evaluation.
