Staff Software Infrastructure Engineer

: Great robots require great software. Great software is only possible with reliable infrastructure and tools that enable our teams to stay in the flow. As a Staff Software Infrastructure Engineer on the Central Software (CSW) team, you will play a direct role in extending, refining, and maintaining software infrastructure and tools that empower teams to move quickly. This is your chance to work with engineers and researchers from across Boston Dynamics (BD), supporting advanced robotics products and research efforts. How you will make an impact:

• Extend and scale build systems and tooling to maximize the productivity of the 200+ BD engineers.
• Leverage industry standards for reliable and repeatable infrastructure provisioning.
• Work with stakeholders across BD to understand requirements, ensuring deployed solutions meet end-user needs.
• Own end-to-end delivery of new developer tools, spanning implementation, testing, deployment, documentation, and operations.
• Participate in our agile development process, coordinating work with others, identifying challenges, and communicating progress regularly.
• Mentor and upskill peers and other contributors across the organization.

What we are looking for:

• Hands-on experience in build systems (Bazel or similar tools, such as Gradle, CMake) for multi-language monorepos.
• 7+ years experience as a Software Engineer working in cross-platform codebases.
• Demonstrated understanding of compiler toolchains and the development ecosystem on Linux (Ubuntu or equivalent).
• Expertise with Continuous Integration systems (Jenkins, BuildKite, CircleCI, GitLab).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Google, AWS) and scalable deployment methods (Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Terraform).
• Experience with Agile, Scrum or other lean methods.
• Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
• Bachelors in Engineering, Computer Science, or other technical areas.
