Location: Greater Boston, MA areaCompensation: $150,000 to $200,000 base salary plus performance bonus and long-term incentive potential About the Opportunity We have been retained to lead a confidential search for a hands-on General Manager to run a privately held precision manufacturing business in the Greater Boston area. This is a true business leadership role for someone who thrives in small, technically demanding manufacturing environments and wants full operational and commercial ownership. The General Manager will lead day-to-day execution while also shaping the business's long-term direction —modernizing operations, developing people, and driving profitable growth. The company manufactures highly engineered, precision-made components for demanding customers and operates today with a lean, highly skilled team. The business is entering a period of investment and growth, creating a rare opportunity for a leader who enjoys building structure, strengthening customer relationships, and turning craftsmanship into a scalable, high-performance operation. The Role As General Manager, you will have full responsibility for the business , combining strategic leadership with a willingness to stay close to the work. You will partner directly with ownership while leading production, quality, engineering, and customer-facing activity on a daily basis. This role is well-suited for someone who understands the pace and realities of a smaller industrial operation and can bring clarity, structure, and momentum without disrupting the culture. Success will come from earning trust on the floor, driving disciplined execution, and leading both operational excellence and commercial growth Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership
• Streamline and modernize processes to improve efficiency, throughput, and quality
• Ensure strong coordination between production, engineering, scheduling, and quality functions
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support a safe, disciplined, well-organized facility
• Assess and prioritize capital investment needs as the company scales Business & Financial Leadership
• Manage full P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and cost controls
• Strengthen pricing strategies and margin discipline
• Make data-driven decisions to support profitable growth and operational readiness
• Partner with ownership on longer-term strategic planning Commercial & Customer Engagement
• Serve as a visible, credible point of contact for customers and industry partners
• Support quoting, capability presentations, customer visits, and relationship development
• Expand business with existing customers while identifying opportunities for new growth People & Culture
• Lead and mentor a skilled workforce with a mix of long-tenured employees and newer talent
• Build a culture of accountability, communication, and continuous improvement
• Strengthen collaboration across departments and create clarity of roles and expectations
• Recruit and develop future leaders as the organization grows Ideal Candidate Profile You bring both strategic perspective and the willingness to stay close to the work. Qualifications • 10+ years of operational leadership experience in precision, engineered, or industrial manufacturing
• Proven success in a small to mid-sized manufacturing environment
• Strong understanding of production workflows, quality systems, and continuous improvement
• Experience managing P&L and improving EBITDA through operational and commercial decisions
• Exceptional communication skills and the ability to build trust across teams
• Customer-facing experience with strong technical and commercial credibility
• Hands-on leadership style with the ability to operate autonomously while driving results Compensation Base Salary: $150,000 to $200,000
