Position Overview
The Anodizer/ Plater is responsible for operating assigned plating or anodizing process lines to ensure high-quality surface finishing while meeting strict customer specifications and production deadlines. This role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and compliance standards.
The position plays a critical role in supporting precision manufacturing operations by ensuring coatings meet industry, military, aerospace, and customer-specific requirements.
Position Responsibilities
The responsibilities listed below are representative of the duties required. Additional tasks may be assigned based on operational needs.
- Coordinate with scheduling and quality teams to ensure on-time delivery of finished products
- Review job cards, blueprints, and process sheets against customer purchase orders to verify work instructions
- Determine proper racking, wiring, and fixturing methods to achieve optimum plating or anodizing results without damaging customer parts
- Clean and activate base materials in accordance with internal and industry-approved procedures
- Determine appropriate current densities or voltages to prevent excessive edge buildup, burning, or coating defects
- Calculate plating time based on load size, surface area, and current density requirements
- Verify coating thickness of undercoats and final finishes using micrometers and X-Ray fluorescence equipment
- Submit work samples to quality control for inspection, testing, and validation
- Interpret specifications including Military Specifications (Mil-Spec), aerospace, and customer-specific requirements
- Direct wiring/fixturing personnel on proper part setup
- Ensure masking is applied correctly and pre-cleaned as required
- Monitor temperature, agitation, and chemical levels of process tanks
- Confirm all required inspections and testing are completed before job release
- Accurately complete all production documentation, job cards, and process sheets
- Maintain strict adherence to safety procedures and chemical handling standards
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications & Skills
To perform this position successfully, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- 1–2 years of plating or anodizing experience preferred
- Experience in manufacturing or metal finishing environments
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and finish specifications
- Working knowledge of Military Specifications (Mil-Specs) and quality standards
- Familiarity with Nadcap requirements (preferred)
- Ability to calculate surface area and determine appropriate current densities
- Understanding of chemical handling and process safety
- Knowledge of temperature and agitation requirements in plating/anodizing tanks
- Experience using precision measurement tools including micrometers and X-Ray fluorescence machines
- Ability to strip coatings without damaging base materials
- Understanding of masking techniques related to plating and anodizing
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work in a production-driven manufacturing environment
