Senior Software Engineer

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop and operate a network emulation testbed that tests the performance of end-to-end software and hardware systems in a challenged environment.
• Debug problems with the testbed, propose solutions, and implement fixes.
• Assist technical staff in preparing reports for government officials and senior stakeholders on experimental findings.
• Design, code, debug, and maintain software applications.
• Perform software analysis, code analysis, requirements analysis, software review, system risk analysis, and software reliability analysis.
• Support software modeling and simulation, software testing, quality assurance, performance tuning, automation, and system integration.
• Support, maintain, and document software functionality.
• Evaluate and identify new technologies for implementation.
• Maintain software standards compliance.

Skills:

• Linux
• Network protocol experience (TCP/IP)
• Network emulation, especially CORE
• Networking Skills: Wireshark, TCP dump, SS
• Troubleshooting skills
• Software architecture / design
• Software development using languages such as Python, Golang, or C++
• Software design / test procedure documentation
• Linux command line — 10 years
• Ability to plot data and provide visualization — 5 years
• Ability to analyze data and communicate results — 5 years
• Network protocol experience (TCP/IP) — 10 years
• Network emulation especially CORE — 10 years
• Networking Skills: Wireshark, TCP dump, SS — 10 years
• J-series messaging or OMS/UCI
• Experience with HAIPE devices
• Metric collection (Prometheus) and visualization (Grafana)
• Container Technologies (PODMAN, Docker or Kubernetes)
• Distributed Systems
• Radio or wireless system knowledge
• Test and Integration Experience
• Automated testing frameworks
• Networking Certs (Network+, Security+, CCNA, etc.)
• Familiarity with AI assisted development tools

• Bachelor’s degree — Required
