Mid level DW QA Automation Engineer- MSFT \u2013 Sql Server and Azure technology

We are seeking a detail-oriented Mid-Level Engineer /QA Analyst with hands-on experience in SQL Server/ Azure data platforms and quality assurance for cloud-based solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in test planning, execution, and automation for data pipelines, APIs, and applications deployed in Azure. You will work closely with developers, data engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and performance of our data and applications.

Responsibilities :

Test Planning and Execution:

  • Develop, document, and execute detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts using Zephyr or any other Test Case Management integrated with JIRA.
  • Validate ETL/ELT pipelines in built in OnPrem Sql Server db using, SSIS tool Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, and Azure SQL Databases.

Data Quality & Validation:

  • Perform data reconciliation between source systems, staging, and target datasets (both on-prem and Azure).
  • Validate business rules, transformations, and aggregation logic in large datasets.

Automation & Tools:

  • Implement automated tests using tools such as Tsql, Selenium, PyTest, or Postman (API testing) and integrate with Azure DevOps pipelines.
  • Create SQL queries to support automated and manual validation efforts.

Performance & Regression Testing:

  • Conduct regression and smoke tests to ensure changes do not impact existing functionality.
  • Support performance testing for large data volumes in Azure environments.

Defect Tracking & Reporting:

  • Log, track, and manage defects using JIRA , linking them to related test cases in Zephyr or any other tool .
  • Provide detailed defect analysis to assist in root cause identification.

Collaboration:

  • Work with business analysts to clarify requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospective meetings.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (Master’s preferred).

Requirements:

  • 3–5 years of QA experience, including functional, integration, and regression testing.
  • 2+ years working with Azure data services (Data Factory, Synapse, Data Lake, Azure SQL Database).
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong experience in T-SQL, SSIS, and Good experience in scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python.
    • Hands-on experience with Zephyr or any other Test Case Management and JIRA for QA lifecycle management
    • Extensive experience with defect management and agile delivery tools (Azure DevOps, JIRA).
    • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
    • Effective communication skills for working with both technical and business teams.
    • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative agile team environment.

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience with API testing (Postman, REST Assured) in Azure-hosted environments.
  • Strong Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, PowerShell) for test automation.
  • Familiarity with data governance and compliance testing.
  • Knowledge of ETL tools or data integration frameworks (e.g., SSIS, Azure Data Factory).
  • Exposure to data governance, data quality, and master data management concepts.
