Under the direction of the Head Coach, the Full-Time Assistant Coach (Offensive Line - other titles and responsibilities flexible based on experience) is responsible for all aspects of the development and administration of a successful NCAA Division III Intercollegiate Sport Program. The program will be conducted in accordance with all College and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), and Conference of New England (CNE) rules, regulations, and policies.

The Full-Time Assistant Coach is a professional employee of the College with a primary duty of teaching and instructing student-athletes in the specific sport that is being coached. Most of the Assistant Coach's time is spent on coaching/teaching/recruiting duties, while a minority of the Assistant Coach's time is spent performing administrative duties.

Essential Functions:

1. Coaching/Teaching Duties: (65% of Assistant Coach's time)

  • Work with the Head Coach and assistants to teach our philosophy and scheme;
  • Help coordinate/install team system with our offensive players;
  • Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback to support growth and improvement;
  • Teach and develop student-athletes through on-field instruction, film study, and individualized coaching and meetings;
  • Assist in planning and executing practice sessions, drills, and game-day strategies;
  • Deliver a camp installation plan of our offensive scheme with meetings and practice plans and coordinate accordingly;
  • Breakdown and edit film data to share with team and coaches;
  • Analyze film to identify tendencies, strengths, and areas for improvement;
  • Assist in developing weekly game plans, scouting reports, and opponent breakdowns;
  • Have daily coaches' meetings to coordinate opponent game plans, practice schedules, film review etc.;
  • Create opponent scouting report and upload onto Hudl for players to prepare;
  • Meetings: Schedule, prepare and execute coaches/player/positional meetings during the season;
  • Organization of daily practice plans/scripts/schedule;
  • Prepare all practice scout cards and scripts for practice so we can simulate opponents;
  • Prepare game day offensive plan;
  • Support in-game adjustments, play-calling assistance, and sideline management;
  • Coach Spring football to teach our players in the off season;
  • Coordinate positions during group and team periods of practice;
  • Work with position coaches to teach and prepare players;
  • Assist with Special teams/Kicking game as needed;
  • Take part in all coaching staff live and Zoom meetings;
  • Game day preparation & organization;
  • Game Day Game management.

2. Administrative Duties / Recruiting: (35% of Assistant Coach's time)

  • Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes who meet institutional and program standards;
  • Uploading recruiting lists into our Front Rush program for main recruit database;
  • Daily review of Front Rush program review of videos for new recruits;
  • Build and maintain relationships with high school coaches, recruits, and families in assigned recruiting areas which will be assigned by the Head Coach;
  • Coordinate personal recruiting travel to assigned areas in the Fall and Spring to visit schools with prospective student-athletes;
  • Communicate with recruits through social media and by phone to promote Curry, get to apply, visit and commit;
  • Coordinate recruiting travel, campus visits, and communication in compliance with NCAA and institutional guidelines;
  • Attending prospective student athlete camps, games and recruiting fairs to promote the program;
  • Attending Coaches clinics for the continuation of the most updated information/styles for coaching and recruiting;
  • Recruit as many talented prospects as possible and get commitments from incoming recruits to fill our roster. Process will be as follows; review HUDL film, grade film, have student athlete (SA) complete a recruiting questionnaire, acquire a SA transcript for eligibility, contact continuously to follow up with SA understanding of the recruiting process, have student athlete apply to the college schedule an on campus visit, track the SA application until acceptance and inform them along the way what may be missing, notify the SA of the merit award, communicate to the SA the process for filing a FAFSA form, track where the FAFSA form stands until awarded, have the student athlete commit to Curry College, have student athlete deposit at the college;
  • Continuously update information from recruits into our recruiting database (Front Rush);
  • Help set up and attend all recruiting visits on campus with students and parents to promote our program;
  • Speak to all recruits to educate them about Curry;
  • Speak to all parents to introduce ourselves;
  • Sit down and go through film with recruits in our position(s);
  • Meet potential recruits on campus for visits;
  • Invite recruits to all recruiting events hosted.

3. Academic Support

  • Monitor academic progress of student-athletes and communicate with academic support staff;
  • Reinforce expectations related to class attendance, study habits, and personal responsibility;
  • Serve as a mentor and positive role model for student-athletes.

4. Strength and Conditioning

  • Collaborate with strength staff to reinforce training programs, proper technique, and safety standards;
  • Supervise workouts as assigned and help maintain a culture of discipline and effort.

Additional Functions:

  • Comply with the sport specific intercollegiate affiliation policy, conference rules, and department policy and procedures;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach;
  • Must be able to perform Head Coach duties on an emergency basis;
  • Respect and maintain confidentiality, parameters of operation, professional protocols, and individual privacy;
  • Will be assigned an Athletic department administrative responsibility, as well as Game Administration, based on the needs of the department.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in a related discipline from an accredited four-year collegiate institution.
  • One to two years of coaching experience at the college level.
  • Experience in coaching and knowledge of the fundamentals, tactics, and strategies of coaching intercollegiate sports with ability to recruit talented players for the program.
  • Knowledgeable and current on all college rules and regulations concerning eligibility and recruiting related to specific sport that is being coached.
  • Ability to handle emergency situations involving students.
  • Current driver's license and good driving record.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Ability to work in the evening and weekends and some holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Intercollegiate sport specific experience.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.

Salary Range:

$40,000 to $42,000 over 10 months
