We are looking for an Accounting Manager to join our team on a contract basis. This role is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented accounting specialist who can bring structure to day-to-day financial operations, restore timely reporting, and improve overall accuracy in the books. The person in this position will take ownership of key accounting activities, help organize records in QuickBooks, and support the business with dependable financial insight.
Responsibilities:• Reestablish accurate and current financial records by reviewing existing accounting data, identifying gaps, and bringing QuickBooks files up to date.
• Prepare profit and loss statements and other core financial reports so leadership has a clear view of business performance.
• Investigate accounting inconsistencies, resolve discrepancies across accounts, and ensure supporting documentation is complete and reliable.
• Oversee cash activity, including monitoring balances, recording transactions, and helping maintain effective cash management practices.
• Perform detailed credit card reconciliations and verify that expenses are properly coded and recorded in the general ledger.
• Support month-end close by posting journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and confirming transactions are accurately reflected.
• Maintain the general ledger with a high degree of accuracy and strengthen accounting processes for a small to mid-sized business environment.
• Contribute to audit preparation and special assignments by organizing financial records and assisting with additional accounting priorities as needed.• Strong hands-on experience using QuickBooks in an accounting setting that requires strong attention to detail.
• Background managing accounting functions within a small to mid-sized company.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close activities.
• Experience maintaining general ledger accuracy and producing financial reports, including profit and loss statements.
• Ability to identify discrepancies, investigate variances, and resolve accounting issues independently.
• Familiarity with cash management and credit card reconciliation processes.
• Exposure to retail or a related industry is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple accounting priorities in a Contract role.
