Regional Prevention Strategist

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Regional Prevention Strategist will dedicate 50% of their time to directing the Malden & Medford Partnerships for Success (PFS) grant, overseeing its implementation and ensuring alignment with grant objectives. They will focus on leading the Malden & Medford Collaborative. The remaining focus will be supporting regional prevention efforts, preventing substance misuse across the seven communities in the Mystic Valley Public Health Coalition via a Bureau of Substance Abuse Services MassCALL3B regional grant. The Lead will plan, coordinate, and provide support for the member cities/towns of Medford, Malden, Stoneham, Melrose, Wakefield, Winchester, and Reading. Key responsibilities include managing the Strategic Prevention Framework—conducting assessments, building capacity, assists in implementing evidence-based prevention strategies, evaluating outcomes, and developing sustainable, competent solutions.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Works under the direction of the Prevention and Outreach Manager, and Director of Public Health, and general guidance of the Directors and Agents of Public Health from the M VPHC communities.

  • Serves as Project Director for the Partnerships for Success Grant for the Cities of Malden & Medford, overseeing its implementation and ensuring alignment with grant objectives.
  • Coordinates assessments, capacity building, planning, implementation, and evaluation efforts with the help of the Project Evaluator. Additionally, they oversee the collection and dissemination of related data.
  • Helps provide capacity building, oversight, and Strategic Prevention Framework to the Malden (Malden Opioid Task Force) & Medford (Behavioral Health Commission/Medford Connects) coalitions.
  • Collaborates and builds relationships with businesses, ethnic communities, faith-based organizations, local government, and youth in Malden & Medford.
  • Works closely with and provides staff support to Mystic Valley Public Health Coalition prevention and outreach staff and local coalitions (7 communities).
  • Communicates regularly with all stakeholders participating in MVPHC coalition/collaborative.
  • Oversees the development and refinement of a MVPHC regional strategic plan as well as individual municipalities strategic plan once a year, with oversight of project plans.
  • Budget oversight of Partnerships For Success grant, including federal financial reporting.
  • Compiles any number of different types of statistics and productivity reports, including working with evaluators to submit bi-annual federal reports and quarterly state reports.
  • Maintains knowledge of current skills and technology.
  • Prepares required reports in compliance with state requirements to ensure that the Board of Health has sufficient documentation and assists in maintaining Department files and information.
  • Interfaces with state-wide and national colleagues.
  • Attends appropriate meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Maintains office hours.
  • Performs similar or related work as required or as the situation dictates, or as directed by the Director of Public Health.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any equivalent combination of the below-listed education, training, certification, and experience is qualifying.

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health or a related field with experience in a professional environment, program management, program administration, program coordination, program planning, and/or program analysis with 5 years’ work experience.

Beneficial:

  • Master’s degree in public health or a related field with 3 years of work experience.

HOURS OF WORK:
Full-time (35 hours/week) Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM; Wednesday 8:30 AM – 7:30 PM; Friday 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM.
SALARY:
CAF 11 ($1,362.69- $1,622.95/Week), Paid by a 5 Year Grant until September 29, 2030.
