Job Duties: Prepare food ingredients by washing, chopping, slicing, peeling, grating, and marinating as needed for daily menu items; measure and assemble ingredients for menu items. Perform basic cooking tasks such as parboiling food, reducing sauces, and preparing simple dishes like salads and entrees. Perform cooking tasks on the line during service, ensuring that all dishes are prepared to specification. Set up workstations with the necessary tools and ingredients to facilitate efficient cooking. Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned cooking station, including proper storage of food items. Monitor food quality and presentation, making adjustments as necessary to meet employer standards. Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth service flow and effective communication during busy periods. Manage inventory, and receipt and storage of deliveries, ensuring proper stock levels and rotation of ingredients. Label and stock all ingredients on shelves for easy access; ensure all food items are stored properly. Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen environment by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and taking out trash; comply with food-safety, health, and sanitation guidelines and regulations.

Special Requirements: 6 months of experience as cook or related cooking experience. Use of: Kitchen equipment. Basic English skills. Must be able to lift and carry weight sufficient to move equipment and material necessary to complete assigned tasks. Must be able to place cases, pans, utensils, and plates on both low and high shelves. 40 hours per week, 5 days per week. Schedule may vary and can include evenings, weekends, or holidays, as needed. Employer will rely on workers own representations and observations of worker to assess if worker meets the lifting, standing, and other physical ability requirements stated here. May be assigned to perform duties at any of five properties located within walking distance of each other on the island of Nantucket, Massachusetts.
