Kennel Attendant
The Kennel Attendant is responsible for the daily care, feeding, and cleaning of animals in a boarding, grooming and day care facility. This role requires compassion for animals, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide daily care for dogs, cats, and other animals, including feeding, watering, and exercising.
- Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, and common areas to ensure a sanitary environment.
- Monitor animals for signs of illness or distress and report any concerns to supervisors.
- Assist with bathing, grooming, and administering basic medications as directed.
- Handle animals safely and humanely at all times.
- Maintain accurate records of feeding, medication, and behavior.
- Interact with pet owners in a professional and friendly manner during drop-off and pick-up.
- Follow safety protocols and facility procedures at all times.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior experience working with animals is a plus but not required.
- Ability to lift 40+ pounds and perform physical tasks such as walking, bending, and standing for long periods.
- Comfortable working weekends, holidays, and in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and love for animals.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to loud noise, cleaning chemicals, animal waste, and potentially aggressive animals.
- Shift work, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
