What You Will Be Doing

As a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer within the Research Engineering Group, you will drive mechanical design research efforts that support cutting‑edge innovation. This role provides expert mechanical engineering leadership while collaborating across disciplines—including structural and thermal analysis, aerodynamics, testing, software, and electrical engineering—to solve complex technical challenges. You will design, develop, prototype, and document components, sub‑assemblies, and assemblies for advanced test and measurement systems, validating fit and function through rapid prototyping and simulation. In close partnership with internal teams and external vendors, you’ll guide prototype development, coordinate manufacturing and integration of mechanical and electromechanical systems, lead peer design reviews and trade studies, and support continuous technical excellence. This role also includes engagement with manufacturing partners and contributes to strengthening Acushnet’s freedom to operate through invention documentation—offering a unique opportunity to shape innovation from concept through execution.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering required
  • Advanced degree and/or coursework in mathematics or computer science preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design, documentation, and fabrication
  • Strong foundation in engineering, mathematics, and physics
  • Proven ability to collaborate on complex technical problems and communicate clearly
  • Experience directing the full lifecycle of mechanical systems (specification, design, manufacturing, testing)
  • Expertise in metal forming and joining methods (fasteners, rivets, inserts, welding, bonding) preferred
  • Experience with project scheduling, monitoring, and reporting
  • Understanding of the game of golf strongly preferred
  • Expert proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modeling and engineering drawings)
  • Experience with AutoCAD (preferred) and SolidWorks PDM (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T (ANSI/ASME Y14.5) standards
  • Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Must pass Health Services screening, including accurate color vision
  • Ability to work in laboratory, manufacturing, and golf course environments
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs
  • Ability to travel locally daily and overnight as needed

Pay Range: $107,896.00-$134,765.00
