Kripalu Visiting Faculty
Â
Kripalu Visiting Faculty deliver high-quality, Kripalu-based classes primarily for R&R, with additional opportunities to teach in the Online Studio and Kripalu Experience for faculty who are qualified to teach in those areas.Â
Visiting Faculty are expected to visit campus a minimum of 4 times per year for midweek classes (4-night minimum stay and minimum of 8 classes taught), or weekend (2-night minimum stay and minimum of 4 classes) program delivery. They participate in departmental meetings and trainings, contribute to a culture of teaching excellence, and engage in faculty development initiatives. In addition, Visiting Faculty may be asked to create and represent Kripalu in marketing materials, social media, and other promotional avenues. Â
This role is an esteemed position that requires professionalism, high moral and ethical standards of conduct, strong teaching and facilitation skills, and a commitment to upholding Kripaluâs mission, values, and standards of excellence.Â
ACCOUNTABILITIESÂ Â
When delivering R&R, Kripalu Online Studio, and Kripalu Experience Programs, follows all expectations as outlined by department lead:Â
Expertly delivers high quality classes and workshops onsite, offsite, and online across Kripalu content areasÂ
Learns and models Kripaluâs core teaching methodologiesÂ
Delivers high-quality instruction in at least one, but ideally two core R&R content areas: Workshops, Yoga, YogaDance, or Outdoor Activities. Expertise in YogaDance is valued but not sufficient on its own, as the volume of YogaDance classes does not meet the teaching hours required for this role.Â
Adeptly delivers content aligned with Kripaluâs Guiding Philosophy and latest teaching methodologiesÂ
Designs content in consult with Lead Faculty and/or AdministrationÂ
Documents new curriculum in a timely manner per the processes established by the Director of Curriculum and Faculty Development and Director of Kripalu ProgrammingÂ
Responds to guest issues and emergencies as they arise according to Kripalu policies, safety protocols and procedures, and faculty scope of practiceÂ
Notifies Kripalu Programs administration of any concerns, issues, or guest incidents immediately to mitigate risk and ensure educational excellenceÂ
Provides regular availability for teaching, including weekends and holidaysÂ
Committed to engaging in a Community of Teaching Excellence:Â
Embodies and upholds Faculty Commitments rooted in Seva (Service), Sadhana (Regular Practice), and Sangha (Community Fellowship). Â
Expected to attend monthly all-faculty meetings and semi-annual retreats, unless there is a Kripalu teaching commitment conflictÂ
Through the Peer Mentoring and Shadowing Program, regularly attends other classes and workshops at Kripalu to learn from peers, and maintains a growth mindsetÂ
Attends faculty training and development opportunities provided to existing facultyÂ
May be asked to mentor other teachers, or be mentored by other teachers or administration on a variety of Kripalu content teams Â
Open to receiving positive and constructive feedback to continually improve teaching skillsÂ
Â
Kripalu Visiting Faculty serve as a positive, engaged ambassador and advocate of the organizationâs mission, teachings, and vision both internally and externally. In support of this, they may be invited to, but are not required to:Â
Contributes to the performance of programs by sharing on social media Â
Contributes to the creation of various audio, video, and other digital mediums for marketing and promotions as needed.Â

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE AND MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONSÂ Â
Yoga TeacherÂ
Kripalu 200- and 300-hour yoga teacher certification, orÂ
500-hour yoga teacher certificationÂ
200- and/or 300-hour Ayurvedic yoga teacher certificationÂ
Minimum of three years of experience teaching in related holistic health contentÂ
Workshop LeaderÂ
Training in the relevant area of workshop content (yoga, meditation, or another specialized field)Â
Minimum of three years of experience teaching workshopsÂ
Outdoor GuideÂ
Two years of experience leading outdoor activities and/or fitnessÂ
Ability to hike several hours per day on uneven terrain (minimum of four miles per day in all weather conditions)Â
Willingness to become CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard certifiedÂ

YogaDance TeacherÂ
Â
Completion of a dance teacher training programÂ
Minimum of one year of experience teaching in related holistic health contentÂ
Â

Expert teaching, public speaking, and group facilitations skills Â
Strong verbal and written communication skills Â
Demonstrated success in interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively share and receive feedback with and from employees and guests Â
CPR/First Aid Certification (will train if needed)Â Â
Able to commit to and prioritize scheduled activities 3-6 months in advance Â
Able to teach up to eight hours per day if scheduled for Kripalu Experience ProgramsÂ
Able to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays when necessaryÂ
Strong computer skills, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.Â
