Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world.

Raytheon is seeking a Principal Reliability Engineer to play a critical technical leadership role supporting Patriot missile systems within our Land and Strategic Missile Defense business. This position offers the opportunity to own reliability strategy for a mission-critical, fielded weapons system, influence design decisions, and mentor the next generation of engineers.

Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) ensures our products are safe, reliable, maintainable, and delivered on time—from early design through fielded operations. As a senior member of the Reliability discipline, you will serve as a technical authority across development, test, production, and sustainment activities.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and own reliability predictions and analyses for Patriot missile systems across the product life cycle

  • Serve as a technical mentor and provide internal reliability training to engineers and cross-functional teams

  • Influence system design through participation in design reviews, trade studies, and risk assessments

  • Lead failure analysis, root cause investigations, and corrective action efforts to drive continuous improvement and customer confidence

  • Provide technical direction for field return disposition, complex assembly/disassembly challenges, and flight test readiness

  • Partner closely with design, manufacturing, quality, and test organizations to analyze test data, identify trends, and improve system performance

  • Communicate complex technical findings clearly to engineering leadership, program teams, and customers

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.

  • Experience in Reliability, Electrical, or Systems Engineering

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience with reliability predictions and/or missile scoring analysis.

  • Experience leading multiple technical efforts in a fast-paced, operational environment

  • Proficiency with reliability modeling and statistical methods (e.g., Weibull analysis)

  • Experience with FRACAS, failure investigations, and corrective action systems

  • Hands-on experience with system assembly, disassembly, and test

  • Ability to plan and oversee reliability testing (ALT, degradation testing, HALT/HASS)

  • Familiarity with FMEA, FMECA, FTA, and RCA methodologies

  • Experience analyzing large datasets using SQL, scripting tools, or similar methods

  • Experience developing and delivering technical briefings to customers and senior leadership

  • Familiarity with NI LabVIEW/LabWindows, PXI, CompactRIO, or similar test platforms

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools

What We Offer

  • Our values drive our actions, behaviors, and performance with a vision for a safer, more connected world. At RTX we value: Safety, Trust, Respect, Accountability, Collaboration, and Innovation.
