The Director of Clinical Services is responsible for all behavioral health operations of the agency, including the outpatient clinic and DCF contracts. The Director oversees clinical practice, quality management, fiscal viability, and site management. The Director of Clinical Services is responsible for the integration of clinical services into other agency programs as appropriate and for marketing the services of the clinic to the local community and business associates.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Hiring, supervision, and termination of clinical program staff.
  • Direct supervision of clinic psychiatrists and clinicians (one-to-one) as well as conduct regular clinical team meetings, case conferences, safety and quality assurance meetings, and in-service trainings.
  • Provide consistent and direct performance feedback, and corrective action as needed for all program staff and interns. Conduct annual performance appraisals for direct reports.
  • Direct and supervise all clinical intake operations, ensuring that intake is comprehensive, timely, and professional.
  • Assure that clinical documentation meets the standards of regulatory entities.
  • Provide direction, training, and coaching for all program staff and interns to meet the regulatory requirements of state agencies, including Department of Public Health (DPH), Bureau of Substance Addiction Services (BSAS) and the Department of Children and Families (DCF). Maintain relevant licenses for these agencies.
  • Maintain policies and procedures manual for outpatient clinic.
  • Complete insurance credentialing.
  • Work closely with the office managers to ensure compliance with third party payer requirements.
  • Consult with agency staff psychiatrist and other staff as appropriate for coordination of client care.
  • Facilitate High Risk Review meetings monthly to discuss high risk clients and plans for treatment.
  • Facilitate biannual Quality Assurance Committee meetings for the purpose of monitoring and troubleshooting operations for all clinical services.
  • Respond to client grievances and complaints and on-call emergencies, work evening and weekend hours as needed.
  • Mediate clinician/client conflicts and manage day-to-day client needs/issues that arise.
  • Monitor state and legislative rules and changes that can affect the operation of clinical services.
  • Serve as HIV/AIDS Coordinator for outpatient clinic as required by BSAS.
  • Review financial statements with the local business manager. Meet with the Chief Financial Officer, Controller and others as needed to review fiscal concerns and needs.
  • Maintain up to date professional and administrative records as required.
  • Contribute to program grant writing as needed.
  • Serve on agency committees as needed.
  • Develop new programs and market new and existing programs to the community.
  • Work is performed in an office and residential building with employees and clients. May be exposed to situations requiring crisis intervention. Perform work remotely as needed.
  • Local travel.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Independently licensed (Ph.D., LICSW, LMHC, LMFT, LADC-1).
  • A master’s degree in social work, mental health counseling, or related field with a minimum of 5 years post graduate experience in mental health and substance abuse program management.
  • Prior supervisory experience with proven ability to provide leadership and team management.
  • Demonstrated strong diagnostic and treatment planning skills.
  • Time management, communication and stress management skills.
  • Strong written and communication skills, Skilled crisis intervention techniques.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and internet skills including use of remote technology.
  • A thorough knowledge of applicable state rules and regulations, Knowledge of co-occurring substance abuse mental health disorders, risk and risk treatment planning.
  • Experience working with adults, adolescents, children, and families in a clinical setting.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques with continuous training, Knowledge of third-party billing.
  • Ability to be on call for emergencies and work evening and weekend hours as needed.
  • A valid MA driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for local travel to perform the functions of the position.
