Seasonal shipper

Harvard Book Store is looking for a seasonal Shipping Assistant, a 40 hours a week job with regular 9:00am-5:30pm hours Monday through Friday. Some overtime and weekend work may be requested as circumstances arise. The wage is $17.00 per hour, and the job would be for the period September 22nd, 2025 through December 19th, 2025. The person will be immediately responsible to our Web Team Supervisor.

Responsibilities include:

• Assisting with the timely and accurate shipping of customer orders, troubleshooting mis-shipments, and communicating with customers about orders in transit.
• Taking point on special shipping projects (e.g. preorder campaign shipping)
• Taking initiative in communicating with the Web Team Supervisor as well as the Store Managers; the Receiving, Returns & Shipping Supervisor; and our Warehouse Staff about shipping supply needs.
• Fielding and responding to customer queries—emailed or phoned—about outstanding orders, and orders in transit; drawing in other staff from various departments as necessary.
• Other tasks as requested, including but not limited to receiving apparel, shelving books, a nd customer service.

Reliability and punctuality are key, as is an ability for detailed work at a pace meeting requirements set by the Store Managers and the Web Order Supervisor. Familiarity with using databases and spreadsheets is required. This job is physically labor intensive, and frequently requires lifting and carrying loads up to 50 lbs. Previous experience shipping is preferred but not required.
