Position Summary:

Lexington Christian Academy (LCA) seeks a Varsity Head Coach for Field Hockey to lead student-athletes in the pursuit of athletic excellence, character development, and spiritual growth. The Varsity Coach is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the varsity program, including planning and conducting practices, managing games, fostering positive team culture, and promoting the mission and values of LCA.

Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Program Management

• Plan and lead effective practices that develop athletes physically, technically, and tactically.
• Cultivate a team culture grounded in the values of the academy - Glorify God, Partnership, Truth, Respect, Excellence, Honesty.
• Oversee all aspects of game-day preparation, strategy, and coaching.
• Collaborate with JV and middle school coaches to ensure program alignment and athlete development.

Student-Athlete Development

• Mentor student-athletes in personal, academic, and spiritual growth.
• Emphasize the importance of teamwork, accountability, and resilience.
• Provide feedback to support players’ skill development and encourage leadership within the team and community.

Administrative & Operational Duties

• Communicate regularly with the Director of Athletics and parents.
• Maintain accurate rosters, game results, and attendance records.
• Ensure all athletes meet eligibility, clearance, and safety requirements.
• Care for and account for equipment and uniforms.
• Support preseason tryouts, postseason events, and off-season opportunities where appropriate.

Faith Integration

• Model and encourage Christ-centered living and servant leadership.
• Open and close practices and games with prayer when appropriate.
• Encourage athletes to see competition as an opportunity to glorify God.

Qualifications:

• Prior coaching experience at the high school level or above preferred.
• Deep knowledge of the sport and a passion for teaching student-athletes.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Commitment to LCA’s mission and values as a Christian school.
• Ability to pass background checks and meet all state, school, and league compliance standards.

Seasonal Commitment:

• Fall Season; approximately 10–12 weeks.
• Afternoon practices and games 5–6 days per week, including some Saturdays.
• Pre-season meetings and postseason events as required.
