Culinary and Menu Systems Manager
The Manager of Culinary & Menu Systems Technology supports the development, maintenance, and optimization of Phoenix3’s enterprise menu ecosystem across all brands (Restaura, Culinour, Infuse). This role is ideal for a culinary professional who is equally comfortable in a kitchen, a test lab, and a digital menu management platform.
This position combines hands-on culinary knowledge with technical systems capability, ensuring that recipes, nutrition data, menu logic, costing, and operational tools are accurate, scalable, and easy for field teams to execute. The Manager partners closely with culinary leadership, dietitians, procurement, and operations to maintain menu integrity and drive continuous improvement in menu systems.
Key Responsibilities
Menu Systems & Technical Enablement
- Manage the day-to-day operation of enterprise recipe and menu platforms, including data accuracy, costing, ingredient specifications, allergens, and version control.
- Translate culinary concepts into structured digital formats (recipe systems, costing tools, nutrition integrations).
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues related to recipes, menus, ingredient data, and user access.
- Collaborate with IT, procurement, and operations to support platform enhancements and integrations.
Culinary R&D & Product Development Support
- Participate in innovation sessions, product testing, sensory evaluations, and prototype refinement.
- Document and translate new recipe concepts into system-ready formats with accurate yields, methods, metrics, and operational notes.
- Support commercialization steps such as costing, ingredient sourcing, and spec documentation.
Nutrition & Compliance Coordination
- Work with Registered Dietitians to maintain accurate nutrition data and ensure regulatory compliance across menus.
- Support therapeutic and modified diet menu updates by entering data, aligning recipes, and validating menu logic.
- Ensure systems integrate CMS, DOH, and long-term care dining standards appropriately.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Serve as a technical and culinary resource for field teams, procurement, food safety, and brand ops.
- Support training materials and communications related to new menu releases, system updates, and recipe standards.
- Assist in adoption of standardized recipes and menu tools across multiple brands and operational models.
Operational & Cost Optimization
- Review recipes for operational feasibility, labor implications, and supply chain alignment.
- Partner with procurement on SKU consolidation, ingredient substitutions, and cost-reduction opportunities.
- Collect and synthesize operational feedback to identify system gaps, menu issues, and improvement opportunities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts, Food Science, Nutrition, Dietetics, or Hospitality preferred.
- 3–6 years of experience in culinary operations, menu management, or culinary R&D.
- Demonstrated comfort with technology-driven culinary work: menu platforms, recipe databases, costing systems, or digital kitchen tools.
- Ability to translate culinary processes into structured, accurate, and scalable digital formats.
- Understanding of nutrition principles, allergens, and basic regulatory requirements (CMS, DOH, therapeutic diets).
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Known for being both hands-on culinary and systems/data savvy.
- Must reside in the Greater Boston area or be willing to relocate within 60 days.
- Weekly on-site collaboration required.
