WORK Inc.’s Solidaridad Family Support Center is dedicated to supporting Spanish-speaking families and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD) in the Greater Boston Area. We strive to empower families by connecting them to resources, services, and community opportunities that foster inclusion and growth.
Key Responsibilities
The Family Support Specialist (Bilingual) is a key member of the Family Support Services team and plays a vital role within Solidaridad. This position provides comprehensive, family-centered, and culturally and linguistically responsive support to families of children and adults with disabilities. The Specialist helps families navigate complex service systems, strengthen their advocacy and leadership skills, and build meaningful connections through service systems resource coordination, community mapping, and family empowerment support.
Skills Needed
- A culturally responsive leader who is passionate about supporting and empowering children and adults with disabilities and their families
- Experience working with diverse families and communities
- Knowledge of the Department of Disability Services (DDS) and local school special education systems
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Approachability, creativity, patience, and adaptability in a dynamic environment
Requirements
- Fluency in Spanish and English (required)
- Full-time schedule availability with flexibility and occasional weekends
- Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field, or a minimum of five years of experience supporting individuals with ID/DD
- Ability to work in various community settings
- Valid Driver’s License and ability to travel between community locations
- CPR/First Aid certification required (training provided)
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365
