Production Manager

Job Overview:
The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations on the production floor, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives are met. This position will lead and mentor a team of supervisors, planners, and production staff while driving continuous improvement and operational excellence across all manufacturing processes, including fabrication, welding, assembly, and coatings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, organize, and manage production schedules and resources to meet delivery deadlines and customer requirements.
• Monitor and optimize production processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
• Lead and support production supervisors and team leads, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.
• Enforce compliance with safety regulations and company policies; promote a culture of safety and accountability.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, supply chain, and maintenance teams to resolve production challenges.
• Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), including on-time delivery, scrap/rework rates, and labor efficiency.
• Support the implementation of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives across the shop floor.
• Ensure availability of materials, equipment, and personnel to meet production targets.
• Participate in capacity planning and workforce development to support growth and future project demands.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), training materials, and work instructions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum of 5 years of production management experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes such as metal fabrication, welding, machining, and assembly.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and foster collaboration.
• Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement practices.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and production scheduling tools.
• Strong organizational and decision-making skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in a custom or project-based manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of industry standards such as AWS, AISC, or ISO 9001
