Summary : Complete diagnostic evaluations and provide the necessary direct and indirect services to enable consumers to reach and maintain their maximum level of functioning in the community with the goal of symptom reduction and averting (repeated) hospitalization, detoxification or imprisonment. Positions working with individuals in recovery, mental health, dual diagnosed, and child and family systems available.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Meet productivity expectation equivalent to 67.5% of weekly hourly requirement or 27 hours per week. Clinicians that exceed minimum productivity requirement will be eligible for incentive pay.
  • Complete assigned diagnostic assessments, develop individual service plans, routine progress notes and all other appropriate clinical documentation.  Utilize fully all components of current and new electronic health record system.
  • Provide outpatient treatment and case management services as appropriate, utilizing a range of treatment modalities (e.g. individual, family, group, etc.), Evidence Based Practices (EBP) and psycho-educational interventions.
  • Provide direct counseling services, outreach and crisis intervention services to at-risk and difficult to engage clients.
  • Participate in regular clinic staff meetings.
  • Pursue whenever possible opportunities to collaborate with members of the medical team and other providers both inside and outside the larger agency.
  • Depending on the particular skill set, clinicians will be assigned a variety of administrative responsibilities that can be completed in five hours per week. For licensed clinicians this may also include supervision of other clinicians.
  • Admin tasks may include but are not limited to the following areas: group supervision, MDT functions, oversight of residential recovery program clinical services, bulletin boards, case assignments, staff consultation, external meetings with providers and funders, and special projects, and miscellaneous management and administrative functions.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of community resources and service providers and share information with members of the Treatment Team and assist client's access resources.
  • Develop working knowledge of SMOC programs and services and develop relationships with colleagues across discipline.
  • Collaborate and network with DPH, DMH, PES, area hospitals, courts and other community-service providers on behalf of clients.
  • Adhere to the clinic's Policy and Procedure Manual.
  • Maintain current professional license, register and maintain CAQH website, and malpractice insurance.
  • For in-home providers, must be able to drive to various locations throughout the region to visit clients and assess their needs.
  • Engage all clients by understanding and addressing their needs whether within or outside the scope of the specialty.
  • Attend and participate in engagement team meetings, follow up with client service plans and communicate effectively with clients and staff in other specialty areas.
  • Ensure compliance with program/department, agency and/or funder requirements as well as SMOC policies & procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Master’s or advanced graduate degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or related disciplines required
  • Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License required.

Organizational Relationship: Directly reports to Associate Clinic Director, Child & Family Director or Associate Director of Addiction Services. Direct reports of this position for licensed clinicians are non-licensed clinicians.

Working Conditions: As part of the responsibilities of this position, the Outpatient Clinician will have direct or incidental contact with clients served by SMOC in various programs funded or administered through the Executive Office of Health and Human Services. A successful background check is required.
