Pediatric dental assistant
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pediatric Dental Assistant to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will provide essential support in a dental clinic environment, assisting the dentist during procedures and ensuring a positive experience for our young patients. Your expertise in pediatric dentistry and familiarity with dental systems will be crucial in delivering high-quality care.
Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during pediatric dental procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Prepare and maintain the treatment area, ensuring compliance with infection control protocols.
- Take medical imaging, including X-rays, and operate 3D scanners as needed.
- Manage patient records using Dentrix and ensure all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
- Educate patients and their families on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
- Provide comfort to children during treatments, addressing their concerns and making them feel at ease.
- Maintain inventory of dental supplies and assist in ordering when necessary.
- Support the front office with scheduling appointments and managing patient flow.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a dental clinic setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with medical imaging techniques and equipment, including X-ray systems.
- Proficiency in infection control standards within a dental environment.
- Experience with Dentrix or similar dental software systems is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, particularly in interacting with children and their guardians.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being self-motivated.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is preferred.
