Job Overview

The Assistant Director for Prevention Education, Health Promotion & Wellbeing in the Georgetown University Health Education Services Office plays a pivotal role in establishing a culture of community care and well-being for students.

The incumbent’s primary responsibilities will be focused on: 1) the develop and implement health promotion programming, 2) manage Health Education Service’s peer education program and corresponding initiatives, 3) co-lead the implementation and administration of Georgetown’s mandatory bystander intervention program; 4) administer online education courses for incoming undergraduate and graduate students; 5) oversee a new well-being space in Healy G; and 6) establish health programming and wellbeing initiatives on the Capitol Campus.

This position will help coordinate and assess health promotion initiatives related to various health and wellness topics, including but not limited to alcohol and other drugs, sexual health, mental health (anxiety, depression, sleep), and interpersonal violence. The incumbent will also serve as a liaison with other university departments, campus and community partners, and student organizations as needed.

Additional duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Creating an evidence informed health promotion curriculum for a wide range of health and wellness topics

  • Overseeing the new Healy G Wellbeing Space

  • Overseeing the peer educator curriculum, facilitations, and related programming

  • Cultivating relationships with campus and community partners for the Main campus & the Capitol Campus

  • Establishing health promotion programs at the Capitol Campus

  • Co-leading mandated bystander training for all incoming undergraduate students

  • Administering the mandated online trainings (sexual violence prevention, mental well-being, alcohol and other drugs) for all new and incoming undergraduate and graduate students

  • Supervising the Wellbeing and Health Promotion Specialist, Wellbeing Student Program Assistants, a graduate assistant

Work Interactions

In addition to interacting closely with both the Director of Health Education Services, the Director of Sexual Assault Response and Prevention Services, Athletics, Title IX, Student Affairs, the Assistant Director for Prevention Education, Health Promotion & Wellbeing will interface with a broad range of collaborative contacts across the Hilltop campus and the Capitol Campus.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Master's degree preferred.

  • Will consider a broad range of relevant specialties, such as community health, higher education/student affairs, health promotion, public health, gender studies, community health education, and/or community organizing.

  • At least three years of full-time professional experience in a field that directly addresses sexual assault, domestic violence, and other forms of interpersonal violence, primary prevention, survivor services, and/or training and technical assistance desired

  • At least two years of full-time professional experience in a field that directly addresses a wide range of health and wellness topics, program development, curriculum planning, etc

  • In-depth knowledge of issues and dynamics related to college health promotion and wellbeing topics including sexual assault, domestic violence and other forms of interpersonal violence prevention programming

  • Demonstrated understanding of contemporary best practices and research in health promotion, interpersonal violence prevention strategies, AOD, sexual health, mental health

  • Demonstrated ability to utilize population health data to inform prevention strategies

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate logistics for complex, large-scale programs, including detailed record keeping, planning, and implementation

  • Demonstrated ability to center the narratives of historically excluded and marginalized communities; work collaboratively to develop and tailor programs to meet the needs of these populations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in higher education/ health promotion/student affairs

  • An understanding of the role of social justice in interpersonal violence prevention

  • Experience developing, facilitating, and coordinating interpersonal violence prevention education, professional development, and training/outreach.

  • Knowledge and expertise in social norms marketing, survivor services, and/or accountability practices for perpetrators of violence.

  • Knowledge and expertise in health promotion and wellbeing, inclusive and holistic education

  • Experience as a victim advocate or working within a survivor service provider agency is desirable; candidates who have provided direct services to survivors and handled confidential information are preferred

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$54,616.00 - $100,493.33

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
