What your day looks like

You are the guardian of conformity. From the moment a part leaves the machine, you verify it meets every customer specification before it moves another inch. You choose the right inspection methods and tools, confirm documentation is complete, and ensure that every shipment reflects the highest standard of quality. Aerospace knowledge is a major plus in this role.

How you create impact

  • Inspect parts against customer drawings and specifications using a range of tools and techniques.
  • Verify completion of production documentation and process shipments once requirements are met.
  • Ensure full compliance with the company quality management system and AS9100D, along with any customer-specific requirements.
  • Review material and process certifications to confirm they meet customer requirements.
  • Detect, document, and communicate nonconforming product.
  • Confirm inspection methods and equipment are appropriate and effective for the task.
  • Validate that inspection intervals are statistically sound.
  • Translate customer quality requirements for machine operators and confirm understanding.
  • Provide operators with precise data needed to correct nonconforming parts.
  • Complete all process paperwork and ensure required certification documentation is accurate.

Skills that set you up for success

  • Strong understanding of GD&T per ASME Y14.5-2009.
  • Hands-on experience with inspection tools such as dial indicators, gage blocks, and micrometers.
  • Brown and Sharpe Micro-Val CMM experience is a plus; familiarity with CMM Manager software is also a plus.
  • Solid computer skills, including office software; some drawing or CAD software knowledge.
  • Meticulous record keeping and organizational habits; clear communication skills.
  • Ability to assist with PPAPs, FAI reports, Gage R&R, and related quality tools.
  • Good math skills and machine shop basics; familiarity with an AS9100 shop environment.

Training and background

  • Training in Inspection, Control of Nonconforming Outputs, Identification and Traceability, and Configuration Management.
  • Familiarity with Jet Machined Products inspection forms and record-keeping practices.
  • AS9100 awareness.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience: Quality inspection background.

  • Works alongside production to ensure products meet requirements.
  • Reports nonconforming product to the Quality Manager.
  • Direct Supervisor: General Manager.
  • Direct Subordinates: None.

  • Work environment: Mostly shop environment; time in the shop requires ear and eye protection.
