Position Summary

We are seeking exceptional, undergraduate students to join the BMS Computational Sciences team. As part of our team, you will utilize structure-based or ligand-based computational chemistry methods together with AI/ML techniques to design and evaluate molecules with superior pharmacological properties or develop SOTA methods. You will test computational hypotheses or algorithms, execute computational experiments, provide data-driven analysis and interpretation of results in support of BMS drug discovery portfolio.

The full-time internship will take place June - August 2026.

Key Responsibilities

  • Computational project work that may include one or more the following - data analysis and visualization, statistical analysis, machine learning, molecular modeling and software development and/or scripting.

  • Develop and build computational solutions to tackle drug discovery problems

  • Interact with project teams and collaborate on key issues for analysis and experiments

  • Communicate your analysis and findings to project teams

Qualifications & Experience

  • An undergraduate student in chemistry, biological sciences, machine learning or a related field with a computational background preferred.

  • Skills in application of computational software packages in any area

  • Ability to independently analyze data using software packages.

  • Basic programming experience in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python) or programming language (Java, C, C++) preferred

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team

  • Personal attributes of curiosity, integrity, creativity, problem solving, and strong work ethic

  • All candidates must be authorized to work in the US both at the time of hire and for the duration of their employment. Please note that immigration or visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

This is a temporary, time-bound position intended for the duration of the internship or co-op program. Employment in this role does not imply or guarantee ongoing or permanent employment with BMS.

The starting hourly compensation for this assignment is within the range of $25.00 to $29.00/hr. Please note that the final individual compensation and any applicable benefits will be determined by your employer of record (and not BMS). Factors influencing this decision may include the characteristics of the assignment, such as demonstrated experience, required skill, and the geographic location of the job. Compensation details are subject to change.

Compensation Overview:

The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full-time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee's work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.

On-site Protocol

BMS has an occupancy structure that determines where an employee is required to conduct their work. This structure includes site-essential, site-by-design, field-based and remote-by-design jobs. The occupancy type that you are assigned is determined by the nature and responsibilities of your role:

Site-essential roles require 100% of shifts onsite at your assigned facility. Site-by-design roles may be eligible for a hybrid work model with at least 50% onsite at your assigned facility. For these roles, onsite presence is considered an essential job function and is critical to collaboration, innovation, productivity, and a positive Company culture. For field-based and remote-by-design roles the ability to physically travel to visit customers, patients or business partners and to attend meetings on behalf of BMS as directed is an essential job function.
