Graduate Assistant- Event and Classroom Technology Assistant/ Helpdesk
JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position is essential to the operation of the campus technology. This job requires the ability to be professional and to learn, as well as train. Our department handles many of the events on campus and all the classrooms on campus. The ability to anticipate problems and think of solutions is highly desired trait. Part of the job is overseeing events, from set up to break down, and the actual events themselves. Events range from managing streaming services to providing a microphone for a presentation.
This position also involves technology in the classrooms and other spaces at AIC. Understanding and operating certain software that is required by classes and teachers. Troubleshooting is also required, whether it is in person or on the phone for user error or broken parts. The ability to gather information from all sources available, (person on the phone or google) and come to a positive outcome is our desired goal. Being part of a team that is willing to train and help you to be the best you can is a bonus of working in our department.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Responsible and proactive individual.
- Ability to use, explain, and train others on how to use equipment and software.
- Lift up to 50 pounds.
- Available mornings, nights, and weekends.
- Ability to follow instructions and attend trainings.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Event set up including speakers, projectors, screens, microphones, and TVs in all areas on campus.
- Operate the equipment during an event to ensure the smoothest possible outcome.
- Interact with outside clients and event producers in a professional manner.
- Trouble shoot and assist with classroom technology including TVs, audio systems, projectors, computers, blue rays, etc. Assist teachers in the use of all classroom technology.
- Assist with setup and troubleshooting in conference rooms, the stinger pub, and library study rooms.
- Use of Owl Cameras, and other Zoom/Teams compatible software and hardware.
- Trouble shoot Wi-Fi and basic computer issues.
- Self-guided learning through use of google and the internet to find solutions.
- Trouble shoot AIC classroom software such as Canvas, Office 365, PowerPoint, Zoom, OBS studio.
- Maintain Proper inventory.
- Maintain projectors, TVS, AV systems, etc. with routine checks and balances.
- Respond to help desk tickets by trouble shooting over the phone or in person while providing enough information to the next tier of support.
