SCHEDULE: Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00p.m.

Pays $25.00-$30.00 per hour (depending on experience)

This position carries a retention payment of $3,000.00, $1,000.00 payable at 12 months, and $2,000.00 at 24 months

LOCATION: 82 Green Street Jamaica Plain with frequent travel throughout Metro Boston Area

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION:

The Occupancy Specialist is responsible for maintaining 97% occupancy rate for all housing in the Supported Housing Department. In this role, you will work cooperatively with housing authorities, housing applicants and their advocates to fill units as quickly as possible while complying with HUD regulations and Fair Housing law.

You will be responsible for outreach and marketing of vacant units within Pine Street Inn programs, the community at large, and other referral sources. You will conduct housing fairs, open houses and other promotional events when needed. In this role, you will travel to sites throughout the Boston metro area to show units to prospective residents.

You will also be responsible for processing transactions within property management software and for assisting with general office support for the Supported Housing Department.

This position is not solely focused on Mod Rehab and CoC units. This Occupancy Specialist may also be required to take on responsibilities of other Occupancy Specialist or other Property Management Department staff as necessary.

Requirements:

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

REQUIRED:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Massachusetts driver’s license in good standing and personal vehicle
  • Formal training in Microsoft Word and Excel

PREFERRED:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree
  • Proficient hands on experience with Microsoft Office applications and Windows based property accounting programs
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of working with the homeless population and/or low income individuals
  • Minimum of two (2) years of client centered intake/housing screening and assessment experience in a non-profit, community organizing or clinical setting

PREFERRED:

  • Four (4) years of working with the homeless population and/or low income individuals
  • Understanding and appreciation for Housing First philosophy, Trauma Informed Care and Harm Reduction
