Technical Design and Collaboration:
- Create detailed technical design documents, including API specifications (Swagger/OpenAPI), data mapping, and sequence diagrams.
- Participate in architectural reviews to ensure data integrity and proper handling of healthcare standards (HL7, FHIR).
- Foster a strong engineering culture through collaboration and mentorship on integration patterns and backend logic.
Optimization and Security:
- Identify and implement performance improvements for data throughput and API latency.
- Ensure compliance with best practices for security (OAuth, mTLS), encryption, and PII/PHI data handling.
- Optimize data synchronization processes to prevent race conditions and ensure data consistency.
System Monitoring and Tools:
- Monitor integration health, API usage, Heroku compute, and error logs using observability tools (e.g., AWS CloudWatch, Splunk, or Salesforce Shield).
- Manage and optimize the Redox integration configuration and monitor data flow health.
Requirements
Technical Expertise:
- Proficiency in Salesforce Apex development for building integrations, including REST/SOAP services, Platform Events, Connected Apps, and Change Data Capture.
- Deep familiarity with Salesforce Sales Cloud and Service Cloud standard objects and processes.
- Proven experience designing and maintaining scalable Salesforce integrations using established integration patterns and best practices.
- Strong expertise in healthcare interoperability standards, specifically HL7 v2/v3 and FHIR.
- Experience with Python, .Net and Java for building supporting services, external scripts, microservices, and data transformations.
- Familiarity with Heroku custom applications and their integration with Salesforce.
- Expertise in handling API authentication standards (OAuth 2.0, JWT, SAML).
- Ability to diagnose and remediate integration failures across Salesforce, middleware, and vendor systems in production environments.
Backend & Data Strategy:
- Knowledge of SQL and relational database structures, with the ability to write complex queries for data validation.
- Experience implementing data archiving strategies and hybrid storage solutions involving AWS S3 or Azure Blob Storage.
CI/CD and Deployment:
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for both Salesforce and backend code (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Gearset, Copado).
- Ability to manage version control and deployment strategies for distributed systems.
Problem Solving and Collaboration:
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex connectivity issues and data discrepancies in a distributed environment.
- Strong communication skills with a solution-oriented mindset.
Soft Skills:
- Self-starter capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Adaptable team player with a collaborative and proactive communication style.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in system integration and backend development, with significant exposure to the Salesforce ecosystem.
- Proven track record of integrating Salesforce with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, AthenaHealth).
- Hands-on experience with integration platforms (e.g. Redox) or middleware tools (e.g. Mulesoft) for bidirectional data exchange.
- Familiarity with ETL processes for managing large data transfers and batch synchronizations.
Technical Skills:
- Experience with Apex asynchronous processing patterns (Queueable, Batch, Future, Platform Events) for high-volume integrations.
- Strong understanding of Salesforce governor limits and strategies for designing integrations within those constraints.
- Strong command of Python and Java integration libraries.
- Salesforce certifications (e.g., System Architect, Integration Architect, or Platform Developer) are a bonus.
- Knowledge of HL7 message parsing and generation.
Nice to Have:
- Practical experience building and/or maintaining Heroku applications.
- Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with device integration (e.g., Zebra printers, medical IoT) via API.
