Lab Technician Job Details

• Location: Cambridge, MA 02138 – Explore Massachusetts healthcare opportunities in a lively urban setting with convenient access to public transportation, restaurants, and parks.
• Setting: Hospital Laboratory
• Employment Type: Travel Lab Tech
• Start Date: September 22, 2025
• End Date: December 20, 2025
• Shift: Evening shift, 8 hours (3:00pm – 11:30pm)
• Hours per Week: 40 (Guaranteed)
• Duration: 13-week contract
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,070 - $1,100

Lab Technician Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (reading skills at ninth grade level or better)
• Minimum 1 year of laboratory experience required; 6 months preferred minimum
• Active Massachusetts Lab Tech license required at time of application
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently in a clinical setting
• Local candidates preferred for Cambridge healthcare jobs
• Must not have worked at any affiliated facility (perm/travel/PRN) within the past 6 months
• Flu vaccine required for new staff starting 9/2 (no declinations accepted)

Lab Tech Responsibilities

• Process laboratory specimens, including verification, requisition entry, centrifugation, and aliquot pouring
• Perform clerical and technical procedures for specimen preparation, review, and verification
• Provide test result information to physicians and answer phones
• Monitor laboratory inventory and notify supervisor for supply ordering
• Maintain clean and orderly work areas in compliance with hospital policies
• Operate computer applications required for hospital laboratory operations
• Comply with accreditation, regulatory requirements, and departmental policies
• Collaborate with technical and clerical staff to support patient test processing
• Perform additional duties as required in all laboratory sections and shifts
